Check Out Cierra Fogle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cierra Fogle.

Cierra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up here in Cincinnati, where I have felt and experienced many things, still today. I felt isolated at times, growing up, and felt as if my voice never mattered. I first started to write fiction stories; I felt it was a way to write my own reality in a different world. Then I transitioned to poetry, where I felt I had more power to express myself within that type of abstract structure; which then transitioned into my paintings.

I have always painted, but I never knew the universes I could create for myself within the medium until I was in my teenage years. Painting was an alternative for my lack of voice and was also sometimes an easier medium to use when my brain felt in a jumble.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some obstacles are working with people or businesses that do not have the same mindset as me when it comes to choices in lifestyle.

I have worked with some organizations that treat my differently because of the way I look or the way I live my life. Living in the Midwest as a queer, black femme-presenting person, it is sometimes a struggle to feel seen or heard or actually cared about.

But my vision and my confidence keep me going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in experimental mixed media art.

I mainly work with paintings, but I also work with movement, noise, performance, and fabric. I am most proud of my murals, and my performance art which consist of live painting and movement art.

I think that my honesty in my work is what really highlights my art.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My friends that have the same creative outlook on life have really inspired me further, to be my true authentic self.

Anyone that listens, or has truly supported me as a person or as an artist deserves credit as well.
