Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was younger, I never really had much interest in anything related to beauty. It wasn’t until my teenage years that I started branching out and becoming more open to trying new things. Once I hit age fourteen, I knew that I wanted to try a new hobby, but I wasn’t sure what it was that I wanted to do. Nails was one of the first things that came to mind. When I first started nails, it was January 2020, and I bought my first box of nail tips and glue from Walgreens. My grandmother was nice enough to let me do her nails with the nail tips and just a bottle of lacquer polish. They were absolutely horrible, but she did not let me think that she was in love! After that, I continued on to trying out acrylic and I’ve been doing it ever since. The past four years have gone so quick, and I am so grateful that I have the clientele I have today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest, no. It hasn’t been smooth throughout these four years. I’ve had many ups and just as many downs. Working from home for three years letting different strangers in my home was not easy. As someone in the beauty industry, we are not always respected like we should be and a lot of the times we are taken advantage of. I am so grateful to have the support system and the parents that I have to be kind enough to let me do nails out of their basement. It wasn’t always easy, especially with the odor of the monomer, but we got through it. Overworking ourselves is one of the easiest things someone in the beauty industry can do. It is so common to get burnt out, and being so frustrated leads to making not the best decisions. I’ve quit doing nails a handful of times, and each time I started again and again… it brought me to where I am today. My advice to anyone who is in that position just keep going because it will only get better from here.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For work, I specialize in nail enhancements and natural nails. The majority of my clients come to me and tell me that they are obsessed with how I do my French tips. French tip nails are very popular, and I feel that they have always been a very popular design. Therefore, I made sure to master that skill because I knew that no matter what, it will always be on the top of the nail trends. Whenever I finish a set of nails that I am obsessed with, my clients will know because I show my excitement through my facial expressions and my huge smile! I will never let a client of mine walk out unhappy.
