Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Sutton.
Hi Chloe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m a big believer in following your dreams – no matter how hard or crazy they seem. Ever since I can remember, I was the one at all of the family functions with the camera in my hand taking pictures of everyone and capturing the moments. Years later when I found myself struggling with a full-time 8 to 5, I decided it was time to take a huge risk and jump into what truly brings me happiness. I started Chloe Elizabeth Photography mainly for one reason; to bring myself and others joy.
Capturing sweet moments between families, friends, and others is a complete dream job. My business and I have both grown so much throughout 2022. I’ve met some incredible, talented, and kind people through education and networking in the photography industry and I’m so excited for the future! Oh, and if there’s something you’ve ever been interested in that you’ve been wanting to try, but life seems easier to keep doing what you’re currently doing, JUST DO IT. I promise you won’t regret at least trying it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It wasn’t exactly a smooth road at first. I had been taking photos of friends and family for a few years just for fun because I always enjoyed it, but I had no professional experience whatsoever when I started my business. My fiance (now husband) and I were about to be getting married, and eventually wanted to start a family in a few years. That being said, when I pictured the “perfect” timing to quit my full-time job and jump into starting a business, it was then. I was told by someone that I was making the worst decision ever and that I was crazy. “There’s no guaranteed income with that. You will regret this.” It was all the total opposite of what I wanted to hear. Anyhow, I now have full support from this person and I’m grateful for their tough love because it pushed me even harder to succeed. I knew to keep pursuing my dream and one day I’d prove that my work is worth it!
Also, like many businesses, starting out is definitely challenging in itself. Especially when other photographers in the area already have their names widely out there. At times I used to find myself asking “why would clients want to shoot with me when there’s someone more experienced?” But that’s when I learned that all photographers are different. Everyone’s work is unique and there’s beauty in all types of shots! Just because you don’t have as much experience as someone else, doesn’t mean your work isn’t worthy!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer who specializes in capturing couples, families, seniors, and more! I love getting creative with poses and trying new things! Outside of couples and seniors, I’ve shot boudoirs, merchandise branding, and even surprise birthday parties/special events. I enjoy smaller, more intimate sessions such as couples and families the most though.
My most proud moment was my first time shooting a proposal for a lovely couple. The fact that he chose and trusted me to capture that moment for them meant so much to me! I remember the feeling I had during that very moment, it was pure JOY. I thought wow, to do this every day would be an absolute dream.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Creativity, ambition, and being a people person!!
