Check Out Caitlin Trainer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Trainer

Hi CAITLIN, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My photography journey began in high school, where I first picked up a camera in a film and darkroom class. I fell in love with capturing moments and initially thought I’d pursue photojournalism in college. But by my junior year, I shifted gears and changed my major to Health Promotion and Fitness. Even with that change, photography remained a constant in my life. I said yes to countless opportunities, each one teaching me more about what I loved—and didn’t love.

Fast forward to today: I’m a mother to three boys, happily married, and living a slow-paced life in the country. Since becoming a mother, my photography has naturally found its focus—motherhood, milestones, and families. Preserving these fleeting seasons of life is more than just my passion; it’s a privilege. Every session is a chance to document love, connection, and the beauty in everyday moments, and I’m honored to do it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, for the most part, yes. However, some of the main struggles I have met along the way would be work/life balance, feeling overwhelmed or burnt out and imposter syndrome.

Owning your own business isn’t for the faint of heart. You have to wear many hats and your brain never really shuts off. So I would say those would be the biggest bumps in the road.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a portrait photographer, specializing in motherhood, families & milestones. I’m known for creating heartfelt, photography that embraces family connections and natural moments.

My work is often described as authentic, playful and storytelling. I’m proud of running a successful photography business while balancing life as a mother of three (most days, but not always).

What sets me apart from others is my ability to read a room and adapt to different family dynamics. I find that I’m able to create a comfortable, natural experience for families, allowing them to be themselves while capturing their story. My energetic, intentional approach aligns with families who want more than just a posed picture.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Hhhhmmmmm…..

I studied coral reef in Belize while in college.
I really wish I could sing!
I’m left handed (so is my mom & sister).
I was a collegiate high jumper.
