Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittini Bach
Hi Brittini, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up loving all things beauty involved. I loved playing in makeup and doing my friends hair. I started cosmetology school in November of 2020.. It was weird! We had online classes for the first 8 weeks and then went on to in person as time went on. While in cosmetology school, I became pregnant with my first daughter. As soon as I saw those two lines, I knew I needed to push through school and pass state boards. I took my state boards at 35 weeks pregnant and the relief I felt when I got the email that I passed the exam was exactly what I needed. I brought my daughter into the world and knew I had to do whatever it takes to be successful for her. I began working in a commission salon that was local and family-owned. It was the perfect start my career needed. They gave me the tools and confidence I needed to move on and elevate my business. I decided to begin booth rental and moved salons. As I began to grow my clientele and continued my education, I gained more confidence and more excitement for the future. I now have two beautiful daughters and my goal is to provide a life for them that they enjoy. I want to show them that women are strong and powerful and determined. I want to show my daughters and encourage others to take a chance on themselves and go after their dreams. It’s never easy, but it’s so worth it!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In a perfect world we all hope for a smooth road but life wouldn’t be any fun without the bumps, right? Of course there is growing pains, as with any business, especially a new small business, there is a lot to learn. I went to cosmetology school and learned how to do hair but not how to run a business or a salon. I would say that’s the hardest part. The best thing I recommend doing is to find a business mentor. Find someone you can lean on and ask questions to.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Cosmetology is a big umbrella. I am a hairstylist. I specialize in all things hair but my favorite services to offer my guests is hair extensions, blonding and bridal services. I love making people feel like the best version of themselves. What sets me apart is my attention to detail. My willingness to slow down and do my work properly instead of cutting corners to make services go faster.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I am a really good listener. I think when you’re a hairstylist the job is 50% doing hair and 50% being a therapist. I feel like I do well with people. I can sympathize and empathize with people. I am also a talker. I love to talk, so I can start a conversation with pretty much anyone. I think it’s important to stay in tune with your social skills. Learn how to read the room and cater to each clients needs in the moment through conversation is important to making someone feel special and getting them back in your chair or to your business.
