Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Schillero.
Hi Brianna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My photography career started in my own backyard – Taking photos of my sister and my neighborhood friends. There was something I always found so captivating about photographing people. The first few times I took pictures on a real camera, I fell in love. It became my safe space. My happy place. And it has enabled me to connect with people in a way I didn’t even know was possible!
I started off in a Media Arts program in high school, then joined a photography course at a community college a few years later. Education can be expensive – So after 2 semesters of college classes, I decided to take control of my photography education in my own way. I proceeded to reach out to many Cleveland photographers to learn from them. I asked for advice, took courses, second shot many weddings, and went on a 2 day photography retreat in Pennsylvania in 2021. I watched countless hours of educational videos – whether it was for editing or just utilizing my camera in different ways.
I have spent the last five years creating a clientele base. I have many incredible families that now come back to me each year to capture their new milestones. I love what I do and I LOVE the safe space that I have created through my business. I now specialize in what many like to call “Milestone Photography”. Families, Maternity, Proposals, Engagements, Wedding – All of it. I absolutely adore working with people and being able to give them memories to last for generations.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business in and of itself is hard. No one is making thousands of dollars right away. I started off slow. I started off charging so little or even shooting for free. I started off working 3 or 4 jobs at the same time. Lots of late nights bartending while working hard to grow my business and clientele!
Self doubt and unhealthy comparison has also been an obstacle along the way. I have never been the most confident person. I went through many seasons of doubt – thinking that I was wasting my time trying to start a business. I constantly would compare myself and my work to others on social media. It is still a struggle today! But I have slowly gained confidence and learned that I am proud of what I do and proud of what I have to offer. I truly put my whole heart and soul into my business and the experience for my clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My photography focuses on the people – and focuses on creating real moments for real photos. My goal for every photoshoot is to create a comfortable atmosphere where authenticity is our main focus. Real smiles, genuine laughs, & FUN! Whether it is your engagement photos, family photos, or celebrating a new milestone – each session is personalized to meet your needs, wants, and photoshoot dreams. We will work together to create some photo magic, & have so much fun doing it!
I truly care deeply for each and every client that books with me. I have many brides and families that have now become my friend! It feels amazing to give people an experience that makes them want to return and let me capture all of their special moments.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I hope to grow my business as much as I can over the next few years. I hope to continue capturing growing families, weddings, and giving people an incredible and heartfelt experience. Photography is my absolute passion – and I want to share it with as many people that I can reach.
