Check Out Briana Davis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Davis.

Hi Briana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey to becoming a Creative Marketer started while attending the Academy of Art University of San Francisco majoring in Fashion Marketing. Previously my major was Fashion Design but I felt that I knew how to sew and started to think ahead for my future that I knew nothing about business or marketing. From previously studying at SCAD Atlanta GA, I switched to Fashion Marketing. As I approached my junior year, I knew I had to secure internships in order to land a job within my field. I interviewed for soooo many internships and ended up obtaining two for two small businesses one based here in Ohio and another under a fashion designer in Atlanta, GA. All while running an online women’s fashion boutique, I started to gain notice from other entrepreneurs with my knowledge of marketing so I would provide a few services here and there for them. Upon graduation, I applied for over 100 jobs and couldn’t get one. The ones that I wanted would require me to move to NYC or LA, so I applied but didn’t get them due to me not being local. I also started to notice how truly hard it was to get into the fashion industry as a black woman. I knew that I wanted to combine fashion, beauty, design, and marketing into one concept. As a new graduate, I was super broke and still living with my family which worked out. I did obtain my first job with a wedding designer locally but got let go a few months later. Again, I was back at square one. I’m like I need an income, I have amazing ideas, and very knowledgeable. I have someone in my life who is truly my biggest supporter who pushed me and me to realize I have a whole business that I’m not running. From that push, I launched The Creative Girl in 2019. The business was going great until I got pregnant with my son and couldn’t truly work as much as I would have loved to while business was booming. Then Covid came along so it was really slow for me. Up until the end of Spring, out of nowhere business started to boom again and I was so thankful because my son was due in a matter of three months. Ever since then, the business has elevated and I’ve gained many clients from all over the US who are in the fashion, influencing, beauty, hair, and restaurant industries. I’ve grown businesses from making four figures to who are projected to make seven figures this upcoming year through strategy, creative direction, and design. I am behind a lot of local brands in Cincinnati as far as their branding design, website design, marketing campaigns, and overall digital marketing.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely NOT! Life has a way of super lifing at times. Becoming a mother, learning how to stay sane with being a full-time entrepreneur, a work-from-home mom, growing these brands, sometimes there are slow months, and learning to run every single aspect of a creative digital marketing agency/studio. Having to pivot to overcome those slow months, reach goals, all while making sure I’m taking care of myself. There was a time I was taking care of everyone except for myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a brand designer, website designer, creative director, art director, graphic designer, and email marketer. I am known for my creative marketing skills and for making brands look beautiful, and creative and growing them to new levels. I am most proud of myself for no longer interviewing for the job and truly creating the one that I wanted. I think what sets me apart from others is my knowledge, I am down to earth, professional, I care about each and everyone’s brand like it is truly my own, and I am able to adapt to new industries and also deliver on projects that I don’t know how to do 100% but, in my mind, my client wants/ needs this so I am going to research, learn and deliver.

What matters most to you?
Elevating women and making sure they look amazing every step of their journey. I feel that sometimes small businesses are not polished and don’t get perceived well when compared to a corporate brand. I love to transform a woman-owned / small business into their wildest dreams.
