Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all started when I was layed up with a back procedure and started to make jewelry to keep myself from going crazy with boredom. Once I got better, I started to think about selling my jewelry at local craft shows. This started to make waves, and I started to add some home decor (I was building a house and was looking into decorating it and thought I can make this myself). I do have carpentry in my blood from my dad and always felt comfortable using table saws and other tools from him. This grew and became full-time weekends in the summer with shows as well. After doing craft shows for 5 yrs. I build up a customer base and a small following; it was so nice to have repeat customers and special requests. Over the years, I was able to make connections, and one of these connections had a new area opening with permanent stores, and I was so interested! I saw the space and just dreamed of owning my own store, and this became a reality in Jan 2023 we opened a retail store with an expansion to it coming in July 2023! I’m so excited to have a place to create and share my designs, whether it’s my home decor, jewelry, or custom-designed fedora hats! When you support my small business, you are not only supporting my dreams but also helping my family. With my husband and I starting our journey with IVF, the extra income helps our dreams of becoming parents a reality closer and closer ( we all know IVF is not always covered by insurance and can become very expensive!)
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been an easy road, but I wouldn’t change a thing about it! It has helped create and mold my business into what it is today. On top of starting my business, I still am very active with my career in the Finance industry, so it’s a hard time to find time to commit to my business and help it grow. I have learned a lot and have made mistakes but have learned from them. I have learned that everyone communicates differently and has different expectations. Not everyone is going to see your way of things, and others are not going to be as passionate about your work as you are. I’m just grateful for the people who do and follow my work.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in home decor, from wood signs to wood decor, and also jewelry and fedora hats. I’m most known for my flower wood decor that can be customized to your liking. I’m most proud of them as well because I make them all by hand from start to finish, from cutting the wood sanding, and staining them to arranging the flowers and floral in each of them. I take pride and care with all my items and put a little piece of myself in each item, and I really believe it shows.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I always loved hanging with my dad in his garage and him showing and teaching me. (This is probably where my passion for woodworking started) we would hang out there all day, and he would just show me and teach me to use every tool! This way, I can do it all on my own.
