Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Furbee.
Hi Amber, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Looking back, I never thought I’d make it as far as I have. The first day I pulled into the parking lot of the school, I almost drove away. I have done a lot of things in my life but completing cosmetology school was by far the hardest. I’ve never been one to complete things, so it was a huge milestone for me when I graduated and passed my state board exam.
I found a salon on Craigslist (yikes) and the next thing I knew; five years flew by and I opened my second salon.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve had plenty of struggles along the way but those struggles made me who I am today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in coloring hair. I am most known for the vivid colors that I create. I can easily spend six hours on one head of hair. I work one on one with my clients so that they can have my undivided attention. What sets me apart? I have a ton of snacks and a unique atmosphere. I describe it as going to “grandma’s house”. I have a cozy fireplace, soft blankets, lots of knickknacks, and treats.
Any big plans?
In my next five years, I hope to expand my salon or open another one. I also want to help other stylists reach their goals of being independent salon owners.
