An Inspired Chat with Becca Blumer

Becca Blumer shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Becca, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I’d have to say I am pretty proud of how far this little blog has come! Never did I think I’d be doing events and giveaways, or even answering questions like this. So I’m pretty proud of what I have created as a Content Creator. I am also fortunate to have had some other moments while teaching swim lessons, something I’ve done for years! I’ve had multiple students do something in class that they were terrified to do. And the pride they have in themselves afterwards, that is what makes me the most proud.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am your local fashionista, foodie-with-a-booty, silly goose gal pal! My name is Becca, I’m a 33-year-old living in Cincinnati, trying to find the fun in every day while also keeping it very real. My platform, Becca In Blume on Instagram, is all about providing an inclusive environment, where I stay away from the photoshop and the overall fake-ness. I strive to showcase local businesses, fun and trendy style, every day life, and humor!

I started this blog in a hard time my life. I’d just lost my job to COVID-19 layoffs, and the world was looking pretty glum. Through it all, I kept seeing influencers online and it seemed like they were totally unaffected and unrealistic in these sad and insane times. So I got to thinking, and I decided if I wanted to see something more real, then I should go and make it myself. Things started off being beauty and skincare focused, but quickly became much more than that. It became a way for me to connect to people, to show people they weren’t alone, and to spread some smiles. This blog is as much about me growing and “Blume-ing” as it is anything else, and I love when others want to come and “Blume” with me!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I’d have to say my amazing group of besties probably saw me most clearly. I am super fortunate that I have some incredible friends, who push me to be the best I can be, and support me in every step of life. They are my biggest fans, and actually help me shoot most of my content! I truly don’t think I’d be who I am today without them, let alone still be creating content the way that I am. Ladies, if you’re reading this, I am YOUR biggest fans! And I love you all!

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self that she is not too big, not too quirky, and NOT too much! I would tell her to take up space, and love every minute of it!

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
The ideas of the public! I absolutely love getting feedback and ideas from those who follow my blog. I want to know what YOU want to see, what YOU want to hear about from an influencer/blogger. I also love getting ideas from other content creators. It helps build a sense of community and collaboration, which is always the goal.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Honestly, I hope people only tell funny stories and laugh till their stomach hurts remembering something goofy I did. I truly am a silly person, and I love to make people laugh as much as I like to laugh myself. I believe that some of the best medicine is laughter. I even list humor as one of professional skills! If you’re not having at least one good belly laugh a day, I recommend trying to add that in to your routine!
