Today we’d like to introduce you to Paulette Edington.
Hi Paulette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
After dealing with high levels of stress in my workplace, I began the personal journey to wellness by finding activities that would allow me to REST. Reduce Environmental Stimulus. I was so overstimulated at times that I would just go home and sit on the bed for an hour before taking off my shoes and clothes. Lights sounds and even people walking into my space irritated me.
I tried many ways to relax and had to leave my community to find a practice that was beneficial to me. I found Float Therapy. this gave me 45 minutes in a warm dark space that allowed me to shut off. I exited the tank feeling rested, creative, and calm which allowed me to process things in my life so much better. My sleep improved.
The hour travel made it difficult for me to float as much as I wanted. I was determined to introduce my community to floating and provide a space and programming for people to R.E.S.T. which we just don’t know how to do anymore. So in February of this year, I opened triYOUnity a Rest and Relaxation Center.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
TriYOU was not hard to establish I knew the feeling I wanted to create. Having formed many relationships with my community providing programming has not been difficult. I am working to continue to introduce people to floating, which can be a bit frightening at first. I am working to provide support to individuals through their insurance, currently, all the services of triYOU are self-pay.
The more I can get out into the community to talk about self-care, R.E.S.T (reducing environmental stimulus Therapy), and the benefits of Yoga and Massage the stronger this center will become, like many small businesses staffing is an issue.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have spent much of my life working to support others I believe that we intersect with people throughout life, and we must ensure that we do what we can to bring some joy into their lives. This has not always been easy, but I am constantly reminded of the words of my grandmother “we give because we have been given too! We love because we are loved, and we forgive because we are forgiven!
Everyone we encounter on this journey has their own set of struggles and with life being filled with highs and lows, joys and sorrows we owe it to each other to CARE. I work hard to set an atmosphere of peace and calm. I am not sure what I am most proud of. I have been blessed in this life with many great opportunities and great relationships and proud of them all. I am highly excited that I was able to bring a TANK to our community and every day I walk into TriYOUnity I smile.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Everything in life involves risk-taking, But this step was a major risk for me and my family. I left a full-time job with benefits to open a small business with a concept that was foreign to many in my community. How could I know if this was going to work if I never stepped out with faith? Some ask why didn’t you keep working and do the center.
Well, my passion for triYOUnity and the call to support our community is so BIG that I had to walk away. I have a statement on the wall that says “The world needs you to be who you were created to be.” So no longer could I just fit into the box of what others demanded of me. So really the Risk I am taking is on me and how hard I want to work to make TriYOUnity a success.
