Meet Shadiyah Abou-Arab of Shadiyah Camille Beauty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shadiyah Abou-Arab. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Shadiyah understands that how we feel about our outward appearance greatly affects our inner confidence. As a teenager and young adult, she loved experimenting with makeup and discovered that in many ways it enhanced natural beauty and promoted a feeling of well-being. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Bowling Green State University, she enrolled in nursing school.

However, a daily ritual of penciling in over-plucked eyebrows, along with her continued passion for style and makeup convinced her, instead, to pursue a career in permanent cosmetics. In an increasingly demanding and changing market, she recognizes the importance of skill and she continues to sharpen hers through ongoing training.

Her signature style and technique have helped her to become a recognized name in her field. Now, a wife and mother of three, she has combined a hobby she loves with her natural and creative talent to help others achieve a feeling of well-being and confidence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a very rocky road. Many sleepless nights have occurred as a result of worrying about each client and if they are happy with the result or will heal well. Permanently tattooing someone’s face is extremely stressful and several years in continues to challenge me daily.

There is always a need to find new clients because the ideal candidate only comes for two appointments 6-8 weeks apart and then does not return for years. Financially this can be scary and the constant “hustle” never ends. It is exhausting but extremely rewarding.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Shadiyah Camille Beauty?
I offer permanent cosmetics. Microblading, ombré/powder brows, eyeliner, lip blushing, lash lifts, brow lamination. I believe I am most recognized for Microblading. I began offering the service in 2017 when there were not many others in my city providing Permanent cosmetics and those that did not offer Microblading.

I was fortunate to train with an amazing company and hit the ground running, quickly building a business. I have an intense love for every man/woman who trusts me in this process. I look at each individual as a branch of my family tree. I have finally after many years in the business created a brand.

It may be a little backward, but my initial goal was to just service the individuals I worked with and provide the best beginning-to-end experience possible. I started with very little in my bank account and every penny I had was poured into training and improving my skill. Finally, after several years I have invested in my brand and even designed a logo that I love!

Any big plans?
My ultimate goal is to provide areola restoration to those who have had to have reconstructive surgery after mastectomies. I hope to offer this service and change lives. Breast cancer is something that has affected my mother, numerous aunts, and grandmother. It would be a dream to be able to help others after winning their battle. I also hope to offer more paramedical tattooing in the future.
