Today we’d like to introduce you to Edsel “TreAce” Alexander.
Hi Edsel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My love for music started as a kid. My father played the bass and my mother sang in the church choir. But at the time, I did not know that being in the music industry would end up my career and purpose in life. I moved to Atlanta in 2000 from Cleveland, Ohio to attend Albany State University. This was one of the best decisions of my life. At the time, Atlanta’s music scene started gaining traction and it was becoming one of the hottest cities for entertainment.
In 2003 I was approached by a friend asking if I wanted to form a singing group. Initially, I declined. After further consideration, I figured out why not. We started writing and recording our own music on a basic microphone and computer, putting them on CDs, and passing them out to anyone who would listen. The music was not good at all.
However, I fell in love with the process of recording and songwriting. I decided after a few months, being in the spotlight was no longer my desire, so I put more focus on the songwriting part. After a few years of working on my craft, I met a manager named “Tricky” Montgomery who would put me in rooms to work with Major artists and producers. Since then, I’ve become a Grammy Nominated songwriter who has placed several records on major recording artists as well as becomes a young hot music supervisor for Television and Film.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all. There is a lot of struggle when you are pursuing a career in the music industry. You will hear a lot of No’s, sometimes your accolades will not equate to money in your bank account, and there will be a lot of mistakes and learned lessons along the way. The beautiful thing is that it’s worth it when you finally win.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My prayer time and faith in God. I truly believe I can do all things through Christ. I am so confident about everything because I’ve prayed for it. This allows me to navigate through life with peace knowing what is for me is for me.
