Rising Stars: Meet Hijabi Ada

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hijabi Ada.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am Nidah. I started my Instagram handle known as Hijabi Ada by Nidah back in January 2020. During my youth, especially in high school, my peers would make unfriendly remarks about my choice of clothing. It was also around the time when I had adapted to wearing the headscarf to be proudly identified as a Muslim American.

The headscarf is commonly known as hijab and is accompanied by modest clothing that encourages a Muslim woman to cover everything except for her face, hands, and feet when in the company of the opposite gender and non-family members. Grabbing eyes due to 9/11 tension with that piece of cloth over my head was hard but digging at my undefined style from my Indo-Pak community wasn’t helping either.

Back then, we didn’t have access to influencers or models encouraging hijab styles. So I was left to my sense of comfort and experimented with fashion until it became my style. You know, the word “ADA” in my handle translates to a way to be, i.e. style in the Urdu/Hindi language. Though it took years, I am finally confident in the way God blessed me, and continue to explore the fashion industry to create my unique style.

You can scroll through my feed to see that variety and I’m proud to be not boxed into a single category. I feel that’s what connects me to my following. I am currently working on my collection of clothing and accessories. So sisters, stay tuned and follow me on IG!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
By education and profession, I am a digital marketing consultant with over 10 years of experience. Here’s a blurb from my LinkedIn: In my extensive marketing background, I’ve branded, promoted, and managed the reputation of 2K+ businesses generating over $6M+ in revenue. I’ve also supported nonprofits to raise funds and promoted international personalities during world tours.

At the core of my career, my passion for growth allowed me to develop employees, scale the performance of tools, manage projects, train teams and consult clients toward a path to success with ethics and integrity. In my leisure time, I enjoy writing, traveling, and volunteering to make a better place for all of us.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I don’t take success and failure too seriously. I do celebrate and cry when they knock at my door. However, they all brought some lessons or redirected me to what was actually of value to the person I was to become next. Therefore, I am grateful for all of the life experiences I’ve encountered thus far.
