Check Out Christine Agostinelli’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Agostinelli.

Hi Christine, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
If you would have told me just 10 years ago that today I’d be a writer and an author sharing about my experience in the Christian faith, I would have said you were crazy. In fact, becoming a writer wasn’t really my plan at all, and at that time, I certainly would not have even considered myself a “Christian.”

But, in the spring of 2020, I decided to start a blog as a way of sharing my own personal journey of my struggle in the Christian faith with others. It’s real and raw, messy and unfiltered. I quickly found writing to be quite healing and therapeutic. Especially as others would reach out to me and bravely share about their own struggles they were having with their faith.

It wasn’t long before I began to see that perhaps my struggle hadn’t been in vain. Perhaps, I could be a source of hope, light, and encouragement to others who, for one reason or another, also found themselves wrestling deeply with their Christian faith and didn’t know who else to talk to about it. For the first time in a long time, I felt like my life had a deep sense of meaning and purpose.

Blogging then led me to stretch myself a little more and tackle a bigger project. Just last year, I felt called to write my first book! The title is “Just Breathe: Discover Slow, Uncomplicated Time With Jesus” (available Fall ‘22). The book is a reflection of the things I learned as I slowly rebuilt my faith. It’s a unique book that’s meant to serve as a steady guide or map in the hands of the reader as they navigate their own journey to a deeper, more meaningful faith.

In addition to writing, I’ve also had the opportunity to speak in front of a local church youth group and also share part of my story at a women’s event at my church. Sharing my story and the things I’ve learned along the way–whether through writing or speaking–has given me so much joy and sense of purpose in my life. We all face different trials, struggles, and disappointments in our lives. Mine just happened to be tied directly to my Christian faith. However, finding a way to grow and heal and then be able to turn around and help others coming up behind me has breathed new life into a part of my life I once thought was irredeemable.

To go into a little more detail about my writing, my inspiration comes from a long season of wrestling with and rejecting the faith I grew up with to eventually allowing myself to experience a deeper, more profound faith that has more truth and meaning now than it ever did the first time around.

I became a Christian at a young age, and my faith played a very important part of my life all the way up through college. But, a fertility struggle in my mid-twenties caused me to doubt and question everything I had ever been taught or believed about God, the Bible, prayer–all of it. I decided to leave the church and the faith I was raised with in search of something else that made more sense and felt way less complicated.

However, after nearly a decade of still not finding what I was looking for, I unexpectedly found myself drawn back to Christianity. That was now six years ago. Since then, I’ve been slowly working through my previous pain, confusion, and disappointment. I’ve now discovered a much more healthy and balanced approach to faith, God, the Bible, and prayer. The truths I have learned through my experience have certainly changed me and my faith forever. I’m now so eager and passionate to share these things with others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The hardest part was just getting my blog started. I usually like to consider myself to be more of a private person. So, it was a bit counter-intuitive for me to decide to share publicly the details about such a dark, painful part of my life. But I knew if I wanted to help someone else like me, it couldn’t be polished up and tied with a pretty bow. It had to be unfiltered and messy. I knew I had to resist the urge to clean it up too much and just try to stick to the real and raw emotions I was experiencing at that time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a writer and an author specializing in faith-based content.

I’m known for sharing my own personal journey and struggle in the Christian faith and the things I’ve learned as I’ve slowly rebuilt my faith.

I’m most proud of my first book that will be launching very soon!

My ability to relate with others who are wrestling with their faith is one thing that sets me apart. Because I have walked that same road and found healing along the way, I’m uniquely positioned to offer hope and encouragement to others who are struggling. It’s a lonely road, for sure. So, if I can help light the way for even just one person, my journey was well worth it.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
