Inspiring Conversations with Michael Pietrangelo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Pietrangelo. 

Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I guess music has always been of interest to me. I purchased a guitar from a music store in my late teens and played around with it on and off for several years. It wasn’t until my late 20’s early 30’s I started getting more serious about it. By that, I mean spending more time teaching myself how to play. This was about the time that the internet was becoming very prevalent, and it opened up many sources to learn from. I sort of latched on to two songs. “Drive” by Incubus and “Two Steps Behind” by Def Leppard. I was able to figure out how to play those two songs, and from there, it was just learning one song after the next. 

Performing live came many years later, and I suppose, a natural transition. I guess I grew bored playing by myself and was looking for a new challenge. I started attending open mics and local jam sessions and met other musicians. It was during those experiences I met other people with similar interests and eventually starting putting together assorted musical projects. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been very smooth. I’ve been lucky to work with talented people. I have also found that musicians in general are very kind, helpful, encouraging, and generous. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been in the jewelry business in some form pretty much my entire adult life. For the last 30 years, I have focused my efforts on the marketing/advertising niche. 

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Musically speaking, I think most people are surprised to know that I am self-taught. Professionally speaking, most people are very surprised I perform live music as it’s not something I bring up in a business setting.
