Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started off doing individual kiss brand cluster lashes on myself. From there, a friend of mine liked how well I did my own and wondered if I could do hers. After realizing I can do others and not just my own, I decided to open my availability to doing strangers and other friends and family members that were looking to enhance their beauty. Fast forward 7 years later, I have my shop that I do lash clusters at. I have built a steady clientele, and I went from apply kiss lashes to my own brand of individual cluster lashes that are available in store right next to the brand I use to use 7 years ago!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has not always been smooth, but all of the challenges I’ve encountered were worth it. Some obstacles I’ve overcome were not knowing when I’d get my next client in the beginning of me doing lash clusters, so I’d have some weeks where the money was flowing in great and somewhere the money was so slow, I pondered giving up. I’m glad I didn’t because the amount of loyal clients I have is remarkable, and I’m so thankful for them.
As you know, we’re big fans of Lash Brat By Taia Mae LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
The name Lash Brat actually originated on my 21st Birthday. I had been lashing for about a year and half, and on my 21st birthday, my aunt (LaShonda) seen my potential and gifted me with a pillow that read “Lash Brat” across it. My eyes lit up at how perfect that name was because Brats always get what they want, and that’s exactly what my clients receive before leaving my lash chair. Thank you, “Annie” for the gift it is now a successful brand!!! What I love about My lash brat brand is that it isn’t just a brand… it’s a lifestyle. I offer so many different things when it comes to being a lash brat. I offer trust and comfort to my clients, lash class courses teaching other individuals how to become their own boss in the beauty industry, I offer my individual clusters to other people for them to apply them on themselves, and also high-quality products for other lash artist to improve their work. Being a lash artist brings me joy, knowing I am enhancing beauty and boosting self-esteem to women all around the city.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
I see Lash Brat expanding worldwide and having so much more to offer. I won’t stop here! I see celebrity makeup artist using my brand to complete the perfect look on A-list celebrities,
