Meet E.J. and Abbie Bocan of AbbieDabbles

Today we’d like to introduce you to E.J. and Abbie Bocan. Them and their team share their story with us below:

E.J. attended his first LEGO® Fan show in 2005, curious to find out more about the LEGO® hobby. Inspired and excited by his experience, he continued to attend more LEGO® shows each year. In 2009, Abbie and E.J. got married, and Abbie decided she wanted to start her own business. She started out selling handmade items on Etsy. Once she started incorporating LEGO® bricks into her products, her store AbbieDabbles really started taking off. Abbie and E.J. then began vending at LEGO® conventions that they had already been attending as fans. Starting with a small Etsy store and vending at one show each year, they have now grown their brand to AbbieDabbles.com and attend 20+ shows each year. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Since a lot of our income came from in-person shows, the Covid-19 Pandemic heavily impacted our business. While this was an extreme challenge, it gave us time at home to focus on our online presence and grow our website as well as our online sales base. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
AbbieDabbles creates custom-designed products using all LEGO® parts and pieces. We are a wife and husband team that makes our own building kit designs and instructions, custom minifigures featuring pop culture personalities, and unique accessories featuring all LEGO® all the time. We have an extensive line of fashion accessories such as necklaces, earrings, hair bows, and bow ties. In addition to our kits, accessories, and minifigures, we also create unique artwork that has toured around the country! We build things that we like and find that others like it too. Star Wars, Superheroes, Nintendo, pop culture icons, and famous artworks are some of our interests that we have brought to life in LEGO® form.

Members of the LEGO® Fan community have been big supporters of ours and have encouraged us throughout our journey. Through our years of business, we have made life-long friends with many other passionate LEGO® builders across the country who constantly inspire us to raise the bar of our creativity. AbbieDabbles has been a constant passion for us since the day Abbie was inspired to pick up E.J.’s LEGO® bricks and begin building this business. We work with each other 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are each other’s support and cheerleaders. We value each other’s opinions and vision and are always collaborating our input to create the best designs. We praise each other when someone has a new idea or lands a big commission and are constantly motivating each other when the work and hours seem impossible. We are co-workers, best friends, and stronger together than we could ever be apart.
