Meet Kahlel Hale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kahlel Hale. 

Kahlel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a creative individual with everything I’ve done in life from making music to shooting my own short films and music videos. I started to get serious after I graduated high school in 2017 and enrolled in college at Lorain community college. In between classes, I would work on songs and instrumentals as a music artist. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn’t have music money to fund my own music videos, so I got creative and started shooting me and my friends’ music videos off my iPhone and studied camera fundamentals on YouTube faithfully every day and night. I started working at sams club in 2018, pushing carts for about a year. Soon after making enough money to buy my very first professional camera, I quit sams club and started taking local pictures and videos of local friends and family for small payments and sometimes for free to build up a portfolio. 

2019 my name started to get around more and more, building a bigger support system with music artist and businesses. 

2021 in the month of May I had got diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer and had to slow down on videography / traveling because of my health issues and chemotherapy would drain me physically and mentally… 2022, the month of January, I am now in remission. I am now back and better shooting at the BET Awards and other bigger events and concerts. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely dealing with friends and family not too supportive in the beginning of me chasing my dreams and perusing my passion. Also dealing with cancer. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in videography but can also shoot photography time to time. I really proud of myself for Believing in myself when it seemed like things were not possible. I’m also very grateful that I could make it to capture important moments at the BET Awards this year. I’ve met many famous celebrities and artist. And hope one day I can shoot for a dope up-and-coming artist or an artist that’s already big! 

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Hopefully, shooting for a famous artist like drake lol … and working more in the field of weddings and big businesses like NIKE & ADIDAS. I’m hoping to move from Ohio to Atlanta, GA or Houston, TX. 

I’m just praying something big happens soon so that I can give my daughter everything I didn’t have
