Conversations with Serena South

Today we’d like to introduce you to Serena South.

Hi Serena, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I have been interested in music ever since I can remember. My Grandmother was a music teacher, so she gave me piano lessons at a young age (though I don’t play much anymore.) Her teachings led me to pursue music in other aspects by joining chorus, band, and musicals throughout my grade school years. In high school, I enjoyed creating music and posting singing videos on social media. I found it to be a great form of expression and release as a teen. My upbringing in music has led me to my love for it, as well as my contract with Global Exec Records today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Sometimes, you encounter people in life that don’t have your best interests at heart. They may make you question your love for music or question yourself altogether. Through it all, I found myself and who I truly aspire to be as a person and a music artist. Sometimes the hard times are what inspire us to do better and be better.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a music artist. A singer and a creator. I love to write music that inspires people and that leaves a message worth listening to behind. I am most proud of my growth as an artist and fighting through my mental health struggles to become the best version of myself as an entertainer. I’m constantly working at this, and I know growth isn’t always linear. I think my makeup will set me apart from others, as I enjoy doing fun, crazy makeup styles to show off my creativity while on (and off) stage.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Hard work, drive, and dedication. I think in order to succeed, I can’t ever give up, and I need to continuously work on showing the world my craft and who I am.
