Daily Inspiration: Meet Dejea Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dejea Miller. 

Hi Dejea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Deje’a Jasmeen, aka “cutie”, CEO / founder of “Foodies With A Cutie,” born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I’ve always loved trying new foods, not to mention I was so tired of eating the same food all of the time; therefore, I discovered blogging. I decided to air a TV show and blog about all of the delicious locally and family-owned restaurants, food trucks, bakeries, etc. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has NOT been a smooth road for me at all. I suffered depression after losing my mother at the age of 17 in 2015. I was homeless and helpless for a few years. Found myself making constant excuses for myself, dwelling on the past and things I had absolutely no control over. Once I came to realization that not only was I in my own way but that I was bigger and better than the tragedies, obstacles, and hardships I endured in the past, is when I began to witness the best version of myself. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Foodies With A Cutie is a blog and TV show that specializes in marketing and advertising locally and family-owned food establishments & food trucks with an ultimate goal to increase business’s customer traffic and sales long term by spreading the word of their establishment by highlighting their most delicious and popular menu items. 

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lessons I’ve learned is to never give up on yourself, always be kind to yourself, not only dream big, but work hard to make your dreams come true and lastly, never allow anyone to deter you. You can literally do or become ANYTHING you aspire to be, just don’t be in your own way! Lastly, always remember, happiness is homemade.
