Inspiring Conversations with T’aira Flint of The Glam Goddess Collection

Today we’d like to introduce you to T’aira Flint.

Hi T’aira, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
As a teenager, I always knew that I wanted to become an entrepreneur. I came from a family that all worked 9to5 jobs. So, when I talked about becoming an entrepreneur, I was always told “it takes money to make money” which I clearly did not at that present time. But then my life took a turn. I found out that I was pregnant. My dreams of becoming an entrepreneur took a turn. I had to get a job to care for my child. I started working low-paying jobs which left me broke and exhausted. I need more money to care for my child with the hopes getting my own place. Since I had a goal in mind, I started applying to higher-paying jobs which started off my career in corporate America. I was finally able to fully provide for my child and get my own apartment. Moving forward I had my second child which now in my head it means I have to work even harder. The money was coming in but my schedule was hectic and left me little to no time for my kids, I started feeling like a bad mom but I knew that if I quit, I wouldn’t be able to financially care for them. I am one of those people who have a problem asking for help because I was afraid of being judged or giving once the ability to say I told you so. Something had to give so while I was working my 9to5 I started making custom Jewerly and selling it to coworkers. It was selling, but I lowballed myself and sold my items for much cheaper because I didn’t want people to think that I was getting over or saying that I am overpriced. Products was selling but I didn’t see no profit so I stopped. I am a creative person so I wanted to try something else so I started a cupcake business. I was seeing a profit but I found myself being exhausted from all the orders and the clean-up process. Back to the drawling board, I go. I wanted something that I can profit from with the ability to care for my children and allow me to spend time with them. My next business venture came into play. I was known for doing my own hair extensions, so I started a hair business, created a website, and made flyers. It wasn’t until I showed my coworkers my business that they spoke so much life into me and thought what I was doing was phenomenal. At the time, I was depressed and burnt out. I worked in a call center at the time and was mentally exhausted that I had to take leave from work. While on leave I started to work on my business full time. Me being me I still felt like something was missing, and selling hair wasn’t getting it for me. It started to become a huge investment. I am now a single mom while getting a partial paycheck and unable to purchase a larger inventory (to give customers more hair length options). One thing I can say about myself that if something isn’t working, I will move on and try something else. It wasn’t until I started selling waist beads. I made a post on Facebook about the waist beads and received so much interest. That is when I started my Etsy shop so I can be more efficient when processing orders. Now orders is coming in from Etsy. I was making a profit. I fell in love with my business and wanted to offer more, so I started adding other products to my shop. I was finally able to leave my 9to5. But I still wanted more! I started looking for ways to make passive income. Which lead me to create Self-Care journals, planners, and children’s learning activity books to publish on Amazon. I now have published over 10 books. That still wasn’t enough for me, so I applied and got accepted as an Amazon Influencer which led me to become a content creator where I can monetize off my content by landing brand deals. With all of this going on I felt something was missing. I needed to impact others. I always found myself motivating my friends and family. Whenever someone had a problem, I was finding myself speaking positivity into them. Those close to me know that I am always researching. If I don’t know, I will find the answer with that being said, and along with operating several different businesses, I was helping them with their business. I had a friend tell me that I should become a consultant because I invest so much time into helping others thrive. Being able to help people see their potential was it for me. I enjoyed it so much and wanted to help a larger audience. So, I created personal development courses online to help others that was like me feeling stuck or needed help finding their passion. Currently, I am working on mentoring single moms that want to find their passion and how to monetize from it to make a living. My coaching program will be launching soon. I am now a mother of four beautiful children who motivate me be who I am today. I want to teach them that they can be and do whatever their heart desire and do not let anyone tell you no! My children now show interest in entrepreneurship, so we started an exotic snack food business which is going great! As long as I am here on earth, I will continue to make an impact and continue learning. I like to consider myself the woman of many hats. I currently have 6 businesses and counting. So, you can’t count me out 🙂

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I can definitely say there were a few bumps in the road. It was so many times that I wanted to give up. I was told that I couldn’t do some of the things that I do today. I started to lose support and some relationships along the way. I felt alone and isolated. Maybe I should give? But giving up was not an option because I am a mother that has to provide for her children. I noticed that I was getting in my own way. Letting people speak doubt and fear into me was stopping my purpose. I have a mission and need to use my gift. I used my isolation time for a time to self-reflect, learn new skills, read more self-help book and listen to motivational speakers. I know use some my struggles to help other women who may feel the same. My mess has a message.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Glam Goddess Collection?
The Glam Goddess Collection was created with helping women in mind. My company caters to women’s internal and external beauty. I created self-care journals to help with mental health. I use journaling as a part of my mental health therapy. The Glam Goddess Collections also offer women’s feminine care products and weight loss products such as detox drinks and slimming cream. Recently, I added a skincare line which includes face masks and under-eye treatment dark circles and fine lines that is available on my website and on Amazon Prime. I will be adding services to compliment my product line such as Teeth Whitening, Yoni Steam, and body contouring. These services will be added soon with more details to come. To align with my mission to help women, I offer personal development courses to teach women how to keep a positive mindset and becoming a better version of themselves. My coaching package will be available soon where I will be working with single moms that struggle with finding their passion and teach them how they can monetize their passion so they can live a life of fulfillment! My business came such a long way. It started off looking for side hustles to make enough money to quit my 9to5 to serving and help other women like me live a more fulfilled life.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
To keep me feeling motivated, I listen to motivational speakers. Some of my favorite speakers are Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Steve Harvey, and Joel Osteen just to name a few. These speakers had helped me with so much of my life. When I’m feeling down and discourage, I listen to their message. I like to start my day off by listening to something positive and motivational, so it can set the rest of my day. One day I hope to be on stage with one of them and be able to tell my story in front of a large audience.
