Rising Stars: Meet Qiana Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Qiana Taylor.

Hi Qiana, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been into crafts, creating things, and designing whatever I could, I have always had a creative mind, and any time I get to use my creativity, my heart truly smiles. I have a passion and deep love for ALL crafts. Anything that I can create using my hands or putting my own design to it, I am ALWAYS ready for it. Fast Forward to 2020, which is when I started my business, Thirty-one13 Creations LLC. I was on quarantine like everyone else watching YouTube and Facebook videos. I came across a video of someone making some really nice shirts and someone else making wine sets. I HAD TO MAKE IT. I started researching on how to accomplish this. It started out as just something to do but QUICKLY turned into a business. I launched my business in Feb. 2020 and I have not looked back since.

Thirtyone13 Creations got its name from the Bible, Proverbs 31:13, She works willingly with her hands. That is exactly what I do. When I started out, I was doing everything my heart desired to do. Wine sets, T-shirts, dominios, tumblers, notebooks, keychains, the list goes on. My first year in business was truly a learning experience. Some days I was happy, some days I was mad, other days I wanted to give up, but I kept going. This yr. has been much better. I am still learning and growing. I even still have my moments when I want to give up, but my passion and love for crafting and creating won’t let. I absolutely LOVE what I do. Everything I make is made with love, joy, and passion. That’s what I give each and every one of my customers EVERY TIME!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey has had its shares of ups and downs. Like I previously said, I had some days I wanted to give up, but my love and determination wouldn’t let me. I can say that it has been more ups than downs, and I thank God for that. I think the biggest challenge since I started was me coming out of my comfort zone. Having to connect and be more social with complete strangers. I have no problem talking and connecting with others, but to just randomly pitch my business to someone I see at the store or standing in front of an actual pitch judge… I was stretched to be more open with people.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I am juggling a 9-5 in finance, but I am natural-born Creator. I have been in finance for the past 3 years, and before that, I worked in the medical field for 12 years, even then I was crafting. When it comes to my business, I am known for the quality of my work. I am known for my creativity and the connection I make with all my customers. I hear all the time how great and beautiful my work is. I am proud of my business overall, the fact that I am willing and ready to teach others what I know, and for not giving up. Believe me, there were times I wanted to. I would say what sets me apart from others is my passion, love, and knowledge for me work. I take the time to make sure my customers get exactly what they want, and they love their order just as much as I loved making it.

Well, I am not from Ohio, so I don’t have any dislikes. I do however, Love the Cincinnati Zoo, Newport Aquarium, the amusement parks (ALL OF THEM), and a few of your restaurants.
