Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Lopez.
Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I really got into makeup when I was in junior high and carried that with me into my adult life. I was always creating new makeup looks and posting pictures on my Instagram. But I didn’t think I could pursue a career in that so I went to college and got my associates in the medical field. About a year after graduating, I realized that’s not what was going to make me happy in life. Everyone I knew encouraged me to go to school to be an Esthetician because they knew that was my passion. While I was in school, my focus quickly changed to the skin side. I was so interested in learning about the products and how facials work. I reached out to Kayla Vickrey owner of Skin Care by Kayla Marie before I graduated because I loved her spa and her passion that I would see on Instagram. She basically took me under her wing and became like a mentor to me. I‘ve been working at Skin Care by Kayla Marie for over a year and a half now and I love it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was in esthetics school when COVID hit and we were shut down for almost 3 months, so that made the whole process longer than I expected. I was also worried about if people were still going to want to get facials after spas could reopen so that was definitely a little nerve-racking!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in customized luxury facial treatments, including dermaplaning, and sugaring hair removal. I also offer makeup services for special occasions! We really make sure we give our clients the best possible experience, with very thorough consultations and recommendations for home care as well. I love getting to help women feel confident and beautiful in their skin. I truly do care about all my clients so much!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite things my mom would do with me and my sister growing up pretended to do our makeup. It wasn’t even with fake or play makeup, she would just use her fingers. She would have us “choose” a color that we could see in the room from a random object and “apply” it as our lipstick or eyeshadow shade. This was one of my earliest memories that had to do with the beauty world!
