Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Julca.
Hi Carlos, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2016 FC Cincinnati played their first-ever season and I became a fan… I would watch every game and attested a lot of them.
Cincinnati and northern Kentucky Hispanic community have been growing rapidly the last 10 years and a lot of them are immigrant that are not bilingual yet. I always been very involved in the community working through my church ministries and a lot of people knew that I followed the club and would ask me what was going with the club. I noticed that there was a big market with in the Hispanic community that were very interested in the club but didn’t felt as fans since there was no content in Spanish that would help them get to know the club. I reach out to FC Cincinnati and asked if they had any plans in having Spanish content in the future and unfortunately their response was that there wasn’t any plans at the moment. I gave them the idea for me to create a Facebook page that would translate all of their social media post and then post them in my page for the Hispanic community to be able to know what is going on with the club at all time they though it was a great idea and that’s how everything started.
After a year I’ve noticed how the page started growing and decided that it was time to take the next step. With the help of local graphic designer, we created our own brand called NACIÓN FCC. I applied for media credentials with FC Cincinnati and started creating our own content. I would go cover every match started a weekly podcast, and started posting our own short articles but I knew that for me to take that next step I needed help from people with more experience than me, so the hunt for a team contributors started.
Long story short we created a team of photographers, graphic designers, editors, and match analyst that would help me create high-quality content. Eventually, our content started to catch the attention of local business owners that would jump in the journey with us as sponsors of Nación FCC. This was a huge step since helped us start investing in new equipment to continue improving our content and our podcast studio.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve always have big dreams of how high we can take Nación FCC and passion for soccer in Cincinnati but to get there I knew I was gonna need to invest a lot to be able to create professional-quality content. I wanted to show FC Cincinnati and our followers that we weren’t just treating this as a hubby but we were taking Nación FCC very serious. At times been very difficult but we’ve had amazing sponsors that helped us through every step of the way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
