Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Shbeeb.
Hi Hannah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My brother, Ben, and I started loving photography from a young age. Our grandpa was a photographer, and his photos always inspired us. Our parents are both artists, and have always encouraged us to pursue our passions, whatever that meant, as long as we were doing it for the glory of God!
We both held cameras from a very young age, then fast forward to middle school & high school for us… We both realized we enjoyed capturing people’s emotions and their stories. Storytelling became so important to us, and we genuinely see it as a necessity in life!
Ben pursued photo for a bit, then absolutely fell in love with videography, and from there till now he has chased that passion!
I didn’t know where I wanted to be in the industry quite yet, so I did lots of different kinds of shoots… As did Ben!
But out of all the shoots we did, we both kept coming back to weddings. Not just because they’re fun, because heck ya they are!!! But mainly because we felt this deep desire to bring the Gospel into the wedding industry.
After we began building a name for ourselves, we’d been given countless opportunities to work with amazing organizations and non-profits, some even being outside of the country!
We’ve been able to work with the most genuine, fun, and down-to-earth couples, and we truly feel so blessed to have this job.
The people we have met through this have been absolutely incredible, and we’re excited to see where God takes this business next!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were definitely obstacles for both of us.
There was a time where we weren’t sure about what we were doing. A few moments of doubt before we got our feet on the ground. We definitely started feeling the weight of the saturation in this industry. But we have the best people around us, who encouraged our skills, and reminded us that no matter how saturated the industry gets, there will never be another Ben & Hannah Shbeeb.
There will always be times where we won’t feel confident because we’re human! But the most important thing we have to continually remind ourselves of, is that God has a reason He placed us in this industry. Whether we’re here for many more years, or He leads us to do other things, our mission is to love God, and love others, and by doing that, we know we’re doing what we’re made to do!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a wedding photography & videography brother/sister duo!
We work with the free-spirited, down-to-earth, and dang right most amazing couples!! We’re known for our goofy reels we make together and are commonly mistaken for being a husband-and-wife duo…. 53 times and counting.
We’re proud of the challenges we’ve overcome individually and as a duo. We’ve been through a lot together. Really tough things that have only brought us closer to each other. A lot of people wonder if we’ve always been this close… to tell you the truth, no. We didn’t like each other for a while, classic sibling rivalry and competitiveness. But when our two older brothers moved to go to college, and we were still being home schooled together while also living with and helping take care of our grandma, we were forced to be the highlight of each other’s days in a weird way.
We became best friends through the tough things, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world.
We have this sibling bond and connection that we’ve continually been encouraged about, with people telling us that we work together so we’ll because we’re so close, and sometimes even when we’re actively photographing or videoing, we have it down. I mean, we’ve got some kind of sibling telepathy going on
What do you think about happiness?
Seeing our couples get excited about marriage together is one of the sweetest gifts of this job! The anticipation of the wedding day can make some feel anxious, and some feel super excited, or a little bit of both! But what really gets us, is when couples book with us. Knowing that they picked us to film or photograph their big day is genuinely one of the biggest honors and blessings they could give to us!
