Today we’d like to introduce you to Irena Peric.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I fell in love with photography at a young age and always tried to see the beauty in things. My mother always told me I had an eye for creativity. I grew up photographing with little digital cameras, just playing around and finding it fun. As I started to get older, I realized that my fun little hobby could become something to share with people. I started taking photography seriously at the age of 18 and launched my own business by 20. What started off as little side gigs and portraits of friends- advanced into something more. I enjoy having the ability to share with others the things I love and have a passion for! I have always wanted to pursue a career with anything that focuses on creativity. I currently am part of an amazing team that focuses on fashion in Cleveland, it’s called The Fashion Talks and they really help me branch out into the creative world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life isn’t meant to be a smooth road. When I first began, I had so much self-doubt thinking I wouldn’t get far and constantly comparing myself to other photographers. Growing up made me realize that it doesn’t matter what other people do, the importance is that I have a love for photography. When it advanced more, I realized that people chose me to capture intimate moments for a reason. Being behind the camera and capturing the beauty in people is what truly pushed the struggles aside. People are meant to struggle to see the importance in the little things- that’s what made me realize it’s not supposed to be a smooth road but one that helps find yourself.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a photographer who specializes in portraits. I think what I’m most proud of is being able to capture others and show them how beautiful they are. Many people struggle with their appearance and I love having the ability to show people that everyone is beautiful in their own way. I also love photographing little, special candid moments between loved ones- it’s those moments that are shared forever.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as being able to do what I love and actually enjoying it. Everyone has different ways to define their success but I believe mine is based on how happy I am while creating.
