Rising Stars: Meet Bianca Pavel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Pavel.

Hi Bianca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
At the age of 24, I started beauty school. I never imagined that I would love doing hair as much as I do now! I initially wanted to be a make-up artist but fell in love with everything hair. I knew that I wanted to work for at least 3 different salons before opening my own. I had a plan— a plan to have my own salon/business once I turned 35. Well, that didn’t happen. Nine months into working at my 2nd salon, I found out that I was pregnant. The salon was far from my house so I quit right before I gave birth. I wanted to stay at home with my son for at least one year. This industry allowed me to do that. Clients were calling me soon after I gave birth and wanted me to still do their hair — even if that meant coming at my house. Seven months after having my son, I wanted to go back to work so I was hired at a salon three minutes from my house. I was happy working part-time, but I wanted to do more. I NEEDED to do more. I was very passionate about doing what I do, that just six months later I started my own business. I was a single mom a year after my son was born, therefore I did not have time to waste. I had to do everything possible to create the life I wanted for my son and I. Starting my own business at 28—while being a single mom, living at home, and having NOTHING to my name was SCARY… But I did it. I worked hard and I accomplish everything I wanted to in just two years after that. I was able to buy my first home and its history from there… Thanks to all my family, friends, and clients that supported me and still support me now—— I’m able to do what I love!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being a single mom …having nothing to my name, I had to hustle!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a cosmetologist in Fairview Park, Ohio. I started my business about three years ago. I specialize in blondes and color corrections. I do solid colors as well, but most of my clients come to me to make them blonde, highlights or correct their hair. I also do full body waxing, but at the moment I am just focusing on facial wax (eyebrows, lip…) I believe that keeping the client’s hair as healthy as possible is what sets me apart. I have no problem refusing clients if their hair can’t take what they are requesting… I always start off with a consultation and go from there. I am really proud of myself for always wanting to continue my education when it comes to hair. I use the best products that I know of. Going to classes and taking online classes allows me to always keep up with the newest trends — and products for your hair.

What does success mean to you?
If you LOVE what you do, you’re successful. Happiness = success to me. Going to work and not feeling like I’m working—- that’s what makes me feel good/ successful. Money follows when you are truly passionate about what you do.
