Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela and Alyssa. Them and their team share their story with us below:
The Canton Girl Gang started at the end of 2018 by Angela Fach. Angela is a female entrepreneur in Canton, Ohio running multiple business as well as being a single mother to 2 young children. She knew some of the struggles women endured in business and also knew what it was like to do so many things on her own without a huge support system. She thought, there has got to be other women just like her that are in similar situations. She asked herself, what if I created a group here in Canton just for women so that we could get together, talk business, help each other out and just be a support system to one another? That is where the concept of The Canton Girl Gang was born. With Angela’s design and apparel background, she created a logo for The Canton Girl Gang and put in on a few shirts. Just for fun, she did a drawing to win a shirt. The contest quickly got shared and a few local ladies started asking, hey, what is this Canton Girl Gang all about? Are you planning on any type of mixers or events? She really didn’t have a plan as to what she was going to do with it initially but with the community gaining interest and asking questions, things naturally unfolded on their own.
Angela reached out to local female business owner, Keri Sullivan of the Barrel Room, located in North Canton, and asked if she would let her host a small group of women to get together and talk business at her bar. Keri said yes and donated a room for Angela to use. Angela then created an event page on Facebook and started letting people know about the gathering, hoping she would get maybe 20-30 ladies to come out to connect and talk business.
Little by little, women were responding to the event and reaching out asking if there was anything they could do to help. Some started offering donations for their businesses as raffle items. The event was up for about a month and within a month, had gained so much traction and attention. Women wanted to sponsor bottles; more women wanted to donate items. Within a few days of the event, Angela had over 100 donations totaling well over a $7000 value, approx. 20-30 wine bottles that were sponsored. She was receiving messages about donations up until the day before the event. The day of the event arrived and she had no idea how many people were coming out. To her astonishment, there was easily 400+ ladies who came through the door that evening. We were shoulder to shoulder, there were women waiting in line to get in and some women didn’t even get a chance to make it through the door because there was no parking left. Angela was blown away by the response at the same time completely overwhelmed. Ladies were mingling, drinking wine, and making the best of the event. When it was time to start the raffles, Alyssa Brady jumped to Angela’s aid and just started helping immediately. She said, “I got you!” Angela saw something in Alyssa and knew immediately she was someone she wanted to align herself with. Another local business owner and friend, Lisa Frank stepped in to help as well. While Lisa was calling out ticket numbers, Alyssa was handing out the raffle items while Angela was connecting with some ladies, grabbing emails from attendees, and trying to make sure everything ran as best as it could for the unexpected surprise of an evening.
After the first event was over, Angela and Alyssa sat at the bar and talked. Alyssa told Angela what she had just created is huge for Canton and wanted to know how she could be a part and help. They immediately teamed up and what happened since has been nothing short of amazing!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has actually been a lot of fun. The only real struggle has been Covid/the pandemic. We had to put a lot of what we were doing on hold.
What are your plans for the future?
We have a lot of ideas for the future. We want to continue creating events for the community, making appearances in schools, and creating markets.
The commUNITY Angela and Alyssa are building with the Canton Girl Gang is one of support, empowerment and inspiration. “We build UP, we DO NOT tear down. We support commUNITY over competition. We believe HER success is OUR success. We believe in diversity. We believe in integrity! We believe we can go further TOGETHER!!”
Since Canton Girl Gang launched, Angela and Alyssa created so many fabulous events for the community – from speaking engagements, networking events, workshops, markets and more!
They also launched the “Canton Girl Gang Magazine” that featured amazing women doing amazing things in Canton. Angela and Alyssa were special guest speakers at United Way Power of the Purse event. They were also invited to speak to The Frazier Fierce Females at Frazer Elementary on multiple occasions and have been asked to speak to other schools in the area about Canton Girl Gang. They plan to continue to support and inspire women in the Canton community in any way they can. Be sure to follow them on their social media to stay up to date with upcoming events. There is nothing more powerful than a group of women with a common mission to succeed & see other women entrepreneurs succeed.
