Today we’d like to introduce you to Deron Rattliff.
Deron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am Deron Rattliff better known as Smoove Gotti. I am a musician, filmmaker, actor, and fashion designer. I was born and raised on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio.
I could sing at an early age. Music was instilled in the fabric of my family. As I got older, I got into Hip Hop Music. I was 16 when I first started recording. Although I love to sing writing rap music was more of a challenge.
I worked very hard and now writing rap music is as easy to me as breathing.
Acting and making films is my new creative crave. It’s been only 4 years but just like music, I love the challenge. I teamed up with a young director Johnny Lumpkin on accident. Initially, I was just supposed to act but I wound ip acting and Executive Producing my first film titled Life Lessons.
All of my talents have led me to my present. I am releasing my first full-length Album titled Deficated 2 Dez. This album is made in the memory of my brother Dezmond Rattliff who passed away from Diabetes last year. I’m very excited about a new film Johnny Lumpkin, Quincy Big Heff Taylor, Grair Finch and myself put together over the summer titled The Capp. I am a supporting actor Co-Director and Project manager of the film. Also, my Circle of Success Society fashion line is a part of wardrobe in The Capp movie as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. In every business, whether it was music, acting, filmmaking, or the fashion brand it’s been obstacles. I do believe I’ve learned some universal skills from each business that I could use within them all. The biggest of all the obstacles thus far has been the passing away of my brother and business partner Dezmond Rattliff. Dezmond was so instrumental to me. He was always a spark when I needed one. Since Desmond’s passing, I started back recording music, and March 25, 2022, I will be releasing my new LP Dedicated 2 Dez. As frustrating as learning a new skill can be I always try to be a sponge and absorb everything. I have become a lifelong learner. I read a book some years back named The Power of Awareness by Nevol Godard. This book inspired me to look at everything from a different There is so much in life that is going on that you are unaware of. We sometimes only can see what we are focused on.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I was first known for being a Hip Hop artist and entertainer. Music is and will always be my first discovery to my creative soul. Along the music journey, I learned other crafts to express my creative mind. I wanted to act and came across a young director named Johnny Lumpkin. I then partnered up with him and created a production company. We have made movies and documentaries. I created a fashion brand a year ago named Circle Of Success Society. My fashion brand was. Featured on the TK Kirkland Podcast episode 199. The brand was also worn by Wallo of A million Dollars’ Worth of Game.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I want to share that a lot of these businesses are intertwined. I worked a day job for years while launching these businesses. I also had some help from people who believed in me or the cause. Teamwork is very important. Belief is very important.
