Daily Inspiration: Meet Camryn Mort

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camryn Mort. 

Hi Camryn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Camryn Mort, and I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. In high school, I always had the urge to start a blog but I was too terrified about what others would think to start. When I graduated, I moved to Columbus to go to Ohio State University. Freshman year I struggled with my body image, anxiety, and getting used to this whole new world. I realized that I wasn’t the only one with these thoughts and struggles, and I created my blog, Camryn Nicole M, to share my experiences. Through the last four years, I have documented everything from my mental health journey, my favorite fashion items, my travels, and all things 20s living! 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Truly, my biggest struggle has always been my own negative self-talk. After first creating my blog, I didn’t tell anyone, including my roommate, for over six months — I was so embarrassed and afraid of judgment. Even though I was always thoroughly supported by those around me, I still struggle with being open about my blog with strangers. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create content surrounding my life as a 22-year-old who just moved to a new city, started a full-time job, and any and all experiences that come from it. I want others to know they are not alone in their struggles, whether that is their mental health, body image, finances/budgeting post-grad, or making friends in a new city. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I am a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”, and I think that applies to many aspects of my life. I am very lucky that my full-time job landed me in Cleveland, where I also ended up finding the most supportive blogger community. The people I have met here have made me so confident in what I’ve created and truly I am so grateful!
