Inspiring Conversations with Katie Sevier of Smooth Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Sevier. 

Hi Katie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi! I’m Katie and I’m a married momma with 2 little boys. I am also an advanced practice Nurse Anesthetist. I have been practicing anesthesia for 7 years. I have also been getting anti-wrinkle injections since I was 28. I love the confidence they give me and how they make my skin feel. After both of my pregnancies and breastfeeding, the first appointment I made was my injection appointment! During one of these appointments, the injector, who knew my background, asked me why I wasn’t doing the injecting. I told her I had thought about it. She said, “Do it!” I signed up for my first virtual aesthetics course the next day and never looked back. In September of 2021, I finished hours of virtual didactics and took my in-person, hands-on tox injection class. I called my husband after the almost 9-hour day and told him this was my calling. I LOVED every second of learning facial anatomy. I opened my mobile “Botox” business in October 2021. Between October to January, I treated over 100 faces in the city. My favorite part about all of this is the messages I receive from clients thanking me for helping them feel more beautiful and more confident in their own skin. I also love meeting and supporting other ladies and gentlemen with their own small businesses around Columbus. So many of my clients have become friends, and I love supporting them as much as they support me! 

Since September, I have also completed another 20 hours of virtual didactics and another 16 hours of in-person, hands-on dermal filler and microneedling + platelet-rich plasma facial training, and my husband has joined me! 

We opened our own office together on February 12 in Lewis Center, and we are so humbled by the community’s support. We are also so excited to watch this business grow! 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been mostly smooth. I have some amazing Ohio mentors who have helped answer difficult business questions. But the hardest part was starting a mobile (and now brick and mortar!) business while working full-time anesthesia and balancing life with two toddlers and a husband. But we did it! And we are all stronger because of it! 

We’ve been impressed with Smooth Aesthetics, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Smooth Aesthetics is a mobile and brick-and-mortar aesthetics business specializing in anti-wrinkle injections, dermal filler, microneedling with or without platelet-rich plasma, and medical-grade chemical peels. 

What’s next?
We would love to continue to grow and add more services. We have several ideas that we would love to bring to life! Fortunately, I’m someone who sets goals and loves to keep them. So hopefully we’ll be adding new services by the end of 2022!
