Exploring Life & Business with Kathleen Dangelo of Sapphire Creek Winery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathleen Dangelo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens is the vision of Kathleen and Andy Dangelo, who fell in love with the seamless incorporation of the indoor and outdoor spaces prevalent at Napa Valley wineries. As life-long residents of the Chagrin Valley, they realized this experience was lacking in northeastern Ohio. They also realized they could use the landscape design and installation prowess of their company, The Ohio Valley Group, to create unrivaled outdoor spaces. They owned 15 acres of wooded property, but only occupied a small portion of for their landscape design company, The Ohio Valley Group, Inc. This was the perfect location to bring their vision to life. In early 2016, they began the design/build process and opened Sapphire Creek Winery & Gardens in March 2018.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No big undertaking is smooth and we certainly endured plenty of bumps in the road during construction and the initial opening of the Winery – then Covid hit and we endured a completely new set up bumps in the road. However, I can honestly say most of these struggles ultimately benefitted us and made our company and team much stronger.

As you know, we’re big fans of sapphire creek winery. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
