Rising Stars: Meet Peter Weisgerber

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Weisgerber.

Hi Peter, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
All throughout my childhood, my mom and dad were documenting me and my two brothers growing up. They got their first video camera when I was born, so birthday parties, Christmas mornings and everyday life was always captured and rewatched. Even as a child I enjoyed the ability to go back and relive these moments. Then in high school, I took some photography classes and started making skateboarding videos and silly short films with my friends. I fell in love with the creative freedom and storytelling ability that photography and videography gave me. Shortly after high school, I started working various retail jobs, all while still teaching myself the ins and outs of composition, editing skills and special effects/motion graphics, as well as working in a freelance capacity here and there. I landed a job at a high end portrait studio and implemented video into their offerings, both in their internal marketing strategies as well as on the client-side with shooting weddings and proposals. After leaving the studio in 2014, I started my own company, Weisgerber Productions, and started putting myself out there to book weddings, events, building a client base and overall growing the business to eventually be my only full-time job. That dream was realized at the end of 2019 when I was able to quit my day job at a clinical research lab and solely focus on Weisgerber Productions.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been struggles and bumpy roads on the way. Periods of time when there aren’t jobs lined up, equipment issues and difficult clients can sometimes make you question why you do a job like video production, but at the end of the day when you see the smile on your client’s face or watch them cry tears of joy while watching their wedding film, you realize those bumps and hiccups were a learning experience to help you grow.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in conveying emotion through video. Everything in our world is tied to emotion. We are constantly feeling every minute of every day. When we are creating a video, whether it’s for a wedding, commercial, real estate or recruitment, we are always trying to find the emotion that will draw the viewer in. That personal connection to our clients and their story, as well as our ability to make an emotional connection to the audience, sets us apart.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I absolutely love Cincinnati! My favorite aspect of our city is how it is a large city with lots of cool places to see and fun things to do. It has museums, amazing parks, professional sports and phenomenal restaurants. At the same time though it feels very close-knit with a small hometown feel.

My least favorite thing has to be the constant construction on I-75. I think it’s been a sea of orange cones since I was a kid.
