Life & Work with Loyla Louvis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Loyla Louvis.

Hi Loyla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
As a young single parent with no real strategy or role model, I was no stranger to the challenges some families face today. My journey started off on a rocky road. Broken relationships set the stage for a marriage destined for disaster and heartache.

Divorced at the age of 24, with a sweet, strong-willed child to care for, single parenting and long work hours consumed daily life. Those days were riddled with financial concerns, health issues, loneliness, and a growing sense of despair.

I started with a dream of motherhood filled with excitement and wonder, but when the stress of life crept into my home, I reacted rather than responded. Excitement and hope quickly faded as disappointments found their way into the life I planned to live.

However, there have been many challenges along the way. Because I never even considered becoming an entrepreneur, there was so much I did not know about the back end of running a business.

I learned through trial and error that you must learn the tasks you expect your employees to do so that you can guide them with knowledge (just like parenting!).

I spent over three years delving into social media marketing, copywriting, branding, email marketing, business development, and more.

For me, it has been a challenge to step into this uncharted territory and learn skills that are not in my wheelhouse. Still, I know that ultimately it will make me a good leader in business, and my employees will benefit.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Certified Professional Parenting & Life Coach and the founder of Mothers In Training, LLC. I’ve been in private practice for over ten years. Although I work with moms in all phases of parenting, I specialize in helping gentle parenting solutions for moms raising strong-willed kids ages 2-10 yrs. old.

I’m most proud of my 10 yr. record of 5-star ratings on Google, Yelp, and elsewhere. Knowing that my clients have been extremely pleased with the outcome of our work together is what fuels my passion and mission.

What sets me apart from others in my field is my gentleness and nonjudgemental approach to helping moms find new parenting solutions. I treat each client as a unique person with a fantastic child and avoid a cookie-cutter approach. No two children are alike, and neither are their families.

I don’t tell moms what they should be doing. I ask thought-provoking questions to help me understand my client’s perspective, worldview, value system, and goals. In this way, I can help her achieve her dreams in a way that resonates with her sensitivities.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I learned the hard way that it’s not enough to have a passion, mission, or gift. There is a business side to even the best intentions of helping others. As a business owner, I’ve had to wear many hats and learn skills that were beyond my comfort level. I discovered that hiring employees to perform business tasks requires knowing what’s involved in those tasks. Like parenting, you never ask someone to do what you’re not willing to do yourself. It’s ironic to discover how similar running a business is to raising a family.
