Inspiring Conversations with Asli Inan of Artsy Flavor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asli Inan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my baking career almost 9 months ago, however, my journey into baking starts in my grandmothers’ kitchen as a little girl. I was watching her cook and she always gave me something to do like preparing cake mixes, telling her what to put in that mix.

I got married and moved to the U.S. 4 years ago from Istanbul, Turkey. I have a fine arts major degree in textile designing. I got pregnant then covid made me stay home after I move to U.S. then almost after 3 years, it was time to get creative and wanted to use my designing and baking skills together led me to create Artsy Flavor custom design cakery. I want something that unique and tasty that everyone would talk about.

Then I came up with my famous motto “Artsy outside, tasty inside”.

I like creating artsy and tasty cakes. I put a piece of my heart into creative designs. Each and every box that leaves my home is made with love and I am so thankful for the opportunity to take part in every special occasion.

My goal is to feast both eyes as well as tastebuds, with artisanal cakes, that I enjoy making, and I have been committed to serving up artsy and delicious cakes to all of my customers.

I find the centerpiece of any occasion with thoughtfully custom-created, delicious cakes and baked goodies. I take the best ingredients and ideas to create a sweet masterpiece to remember for years to come.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a great journey so far and I am very grateful to create this brand. During these 9 months, I did not have many challenges mainly because I handled my business from my home. But my dream is to open up my own shop (Cafe/Bakery/Cakery).

While I am creating the greatest designs, I am also proud of the taste of my cakes and cupcakes, cookies and desserts.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
People are friendly and support local businesses but also some people are overly conservative.
