Hi Pete, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi!👋 My name is Pete. If you live in the Cincinnati area, you may have heard of me as “Pete The Lice Guy”. I’ve been working with head lice since 2012. I started at a head lice clinic in Atlanta, GA. I then moved to the Cincinnati area (where I’m originally from) and started my own head lice removal business, Simplicety, back in 2013.

Being a hands-on business owner gave me the opportunity to personally and successfully treat over 8,000 + cases of head lice to date. The knowledge I’ve gained about head lice over the years from my personal approach has enabled me to grow my business to be the industry leader in the Cincinnati area.

I’m proud to say the results of my expertise in head lice have resulted in contract work for local hospitals such as Shriners Hospitals for Children as well as St. Elizabeth Healthcare. I also work with many Cincinnati Tri-State school nurses both in the private and public sector as well as YMCA Camp Ernst Summer Camp.

It’s safe to say I know a whole lot about head lice. The great feedback from school nurses, pediatricians, and all the parents I’ve helped along the way proves to me that I chose a rewarding career path.

Yes, the job title can be a nit-picker, but it is so much more than that…..It is about helping out the community, giving kids their confidence back, and most important of all giving mom’s their peace of mind and many times their sanity back!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting out, the first couple years were tough just because of the stigma head lice carry. Many people don’t want to talk about head lice so it was pretty tough to get our name out there.

Professionally treating head lice for the past 10 years, the biggest problem I see is the information regarding head lice. It’s been so wrong for so long and that is why the general public struggles when trying to treat head lice. When parents find out their child has lice they jump on the internet and a lot of the information they get is bad advice and sometimes completely not true. So I start my own private Facebook group- It’s Just Lice, Ask The Expert. There I provide proper education about head lice in text/video form and anyone can ask any question about head lice.
