Today we’d like to introduce you to Frans Stiene.
Hi Frans, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started teaching the system of Reiki in 1999 when I was living in Darjeeling, the Himalayas, for a year. Most if it was volunteer work, doing hands on healing on the local community. The local people didn’t really know what the system of Reiki was but they just wanted someone to help them. In reality there are many healers in that area from lots of different ethic backgrounds. When I talked to them or went to them to receive my own healing they all had one thing in common and that was their own direct experience of their True Nature. Most of them did this through meditation practices. This triggered within me a search for the inner teachings of the system of Reiki. And this is why I went to Japan to train with Japanese teachers in 2001, 2003, etc… as the system of Reiki was first created in Japan. Because of these trainings my own personal practice became to grown and through this I started to attract more and more students who wanted to learn the more inner teachings of the system of Reiki.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The trainings in Japan are not easy. Since 2012 I have been training with a Japanese priest who is very strict, we start at 4am in the morning and finish around midnight. They are intense but at the same time they give a deep insight in the teachings and also myself. Our own journey as teachers, no matter what we teach, never stops, in a way it is a life long journey. It is only through our own inner journey that we are able to help others in a very clear and direct way.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Through these trainings in Japan and living in the Himalayas, I realized I could write about these insights I had in my own personal journey, so I started to write books about the system of Reiki. They are: The Inner Heart of Reiki, Reiki Insights, and The Way of Reiki. Writing these books have also helped me to clarify my teachings and how to make these teachings more accessible for our modern time. As these books became popular I started to teach in the USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, Europe, Iceland, etc… So now I am traveling a lot during the year to share these teachings world wide.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love reading books by meditation/spiritual teachers who have had a direct experience of their own True Nature, especially from Japan, Tibet, and China. By reading these books from those well know masters like, Shunryu Suzuki, Lama Yeshe, Lao Tsu, etc… we get a clear insight of those old traditions and how to work with our mind, body, and energy/breathe. If we look at all these teachings we also see that it is important to calm our own mind so that we can start to be kind and compassionate to the people around us which in turn will hopefully, one day, lead to a peaceful world.
