Life & Work with Marquis Storm of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquis Storm.

Hi Marquis, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Youngstown ohio but was raised in Cleveland heights. Growing up I listened to a lot of Jazz and R&B but it wasn’t until middle school that I started getting interested in hiphop. I started writing songs at the age of 13 but didn’t start taking it seriously until I was a freshman in College. It became a passion of mines and since then i’ve recorded numerous tracks and have performed at several shows in and outside of Ohio. I also started podcasting and what was great about the podcast was that it elevated my music and gave it more exposure. I’ve had the opportunity to accomplish a couple things but were only scratching the surface I know more is too come.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road hasn’t always been this smooth. I’ve dealt with ups and downs, envy and hate and people who just didn’t understand me or my story or even what i’m trying to accomplish. I don’t let it bother me though just because it comes with the territory.
I feel like those distractions are necessary I don’t allow it to bother me because it takes away from the goal and it slows down the money.
I’ve had quite a few distractions but as an artist and entertainer i’ve been able to hone that energy and turn it into my gain, which means whatever hate I’ve experienced I turned into music or some type of inspiration.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a hiphop artist who is known for his conscious takes but also a sound of 90’s hiphop with an R&B feel and a twist of modern day. And I’m most proud of my drive, focus and determination in not just myself but my work ethic and in my music.
What sets me apart from the rest of my predecessors is that will to win and that need to be the best. The fact that I want too win the grammy and leave a legacy and show others that this lifestyle and you work hard that this is possible.
I’m also proud of those accolades i’ve been able to earn as well as an artist.

Im a 7x Ohio Entertainment award nominee, A 2x Cleveland scene magazine best of placer for best Rapper (2023) and (2024) and nominee for (2025) a 2026 Legend award Winner and a Who’s who in Black Honoree of 2025 recipient.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If your just starting out be sure to record as many songs as possible but also be sure to network as well. Its not just about what you know but who you know as well. You have too be able to get uncomfortable in order to succeed in this industry. Which of course means trying new things in order to win.
