Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Peake.
Hi Ericka, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start this business with a business plan.
I started it because I understood what it felt like to be overwhelmed.
My life hasn’t followed a traditional path. I left home at 16, battled addiction, made more mistakes than I can count, and spent years trying to figure out who I was and what kind of life I wanted to build. Today, I’m proud to say I’ve been sober for over five years, and that journey has shaped everything about how I lead my company.
In 2023, I launched OCD Home Solutions with a simple goal: help people create peace in their homes without judgment. What started as organizing quickly grew into something much bigger. We now provide organizing, cleaning, senior transitions, and full-service moving services for families across Ohio and beyond.
What makes our company different is that we understand that clutter is rarely just clutter. Behind every project is a story. Sometimes it’s grief, divorce, a new baby, a move, retirement, illness, or simply a family trying to keep up with life. We don’t just organize homes—we help people navigate major life transitions.
Today, OCD Home Solutions has grown into a team of incredible women serving hundreds of families each year. Our work has been featured on television, our social media reaches millions of people, and we’ve built a reputation for compassion, hard work, and results.
Most importantly, I hope my story proves that your past does not determine your future. Some of my greatest struggles became the foundation for the life and business I have today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not.
Like many entrepreneurs, I think people often see the success and assume the road was smooth. It wasn’t.
One of the biggest challenges was building a business from nothing while learning every aspect of entrepreneurship at the same time. I wasn’t just providing a service—I was learning marketing, sales, hiring, leadership, systems, finances, insurance, regulations, and everything else that comes with running a company.
As a service-based business, growth created its own challenges. I had to learn how to lead a team, maintain quality standards, and create systems that allowed the company to grow without losing the personal touch that clients valued.
There were also plenty of moments of uncertainty. Some months were incredibly busy, while others made me question whether I was making the right decisions. Every business owner faces periods where they have to take risks before they know how things will turn out.
Perhaps the biggest challenge has been learning to trust myself. As the company grew, I realized that the skills that got me started were not always the same skills needed to lead a growing organization. I had to become a better leader, a better communicator, and a better business owner.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change any of it. Every obstacle forced me to grow, and many of the lessons that felt difficult at the time became the foundation for the success we have today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder and owner of OCD Home Solutions, a company specializing in organization, senior transitions, luxury cleaning, and full-service moving services.
While many people know us for organizing, what we have truly become known for is helping families through major life transitions. Whether it’s a senior moving after 40 years in the same home, a family relocating across the country, a widow navigating a difficult chapter, or someone simply overwhelmed by where to begin, we help guide them through the entire process.
One of the things that sets us apart is that we are truly full-service. We don’t just organize a room or load a truck. We help clients sort, purge, pack, move, unpack, organize, and completely set up their new home. Many of our clients walk into a fully functioning home on day one, with kitchens organized, beds made, closets arranged, and everything put away.
Senior transitions are especially close to my heart. Downsizing decades of memories can be emotional and overwhelming. We work closely with seniors and their families to help them make decisions with dignity, patience, and compassion. We understand that we aren’t just moving belongings—we’re helping someone transition from one chapter of life to another.
What I am most proud of is the impact our team has made on families during some of their most stressful moments. We’ve helped hundreds of families regain control of their homes, move across the country, navigate loss, and create fresh starts.
What sets us apart is simple: we lead with empathy. We understand that behind every box, every closet, and every home is a human story. Our goal isn’t just to create organized spaces—it’s to create peace of mind.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
The people who deserve the most credit are our clients.
When I started OCD Home Solutions, I didn’t have a large company behind me, a marketing team, or decades of business experience. I had a vision, a strong work ethic, and a desire to help people. The families who hired us in those early days took a chance on me, and I’ll never forget that.
Over the years, I’ve been invited into some of the most personal and emotional moments of people’s lives. We’ve helped seniors leave homes they’ve lived in for 40 or 50 years. We’ve helped families after the loss of a loved one. We’ve helped people navigate divorce, new babies, cross-country moves, retirement, illness, and fresh starts.
What has always amazed me is the level of trust our clients place in us. They don’t just hand us boxes and belongings. They share their stories, their memories, their fears, and their hopes for what comes next.
Many of our clients have become our biggest advocates. They refer their friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers. They share our posts, leave reviews, and continue cheering us on long after their projects are complete.
The truth is that OCD Home Solutions was built one family at a time. Every opportunity, every referral, every recommendation, and every client who believed in us helped create the company we are today.
For that, I will always be grateful.
