Meet Brittany Gidley of Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Gidley.

Hi Brittany, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Before I ever imagined owning a photography business, I spent eight years working as a NICU nurse. Caring for premature babies and supporting families during some of life’s most meaningful moments was such fulfilling work. At the same time, photography was a fun little hobby that I started to dive into. My love for babies and my love for the camera collided in the most unexpected-but-should-have-been-expected way, and in 2012, Brittany Gidley Photography was officially ‘born’!

What started as a side hustle quickly grew into something so much bigger. I discovered that I could combine my technical expertise with newborns and my artistic vision to create beautiful memories for families. One of the greatest gifts of both careers has been the privilege of watching families grow. Whether I was caring for newborns in the NICU or photographing them years later with younger siblings in tow, I have always been drawn to celebrating the story of family. Today, that same joy continues to inspire my work as I document childhood, connection, and the fleeting moments families never want to forget.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Give me a newborn, and I feel completely at home. Running a small business, on the other hand, has been a whole different adventure!

Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve learned countless lessons along the way. When Brittany Gidley Photography began, I knew how to care for babies, create beautiful images, and connect with families. What I didn’t know was how much goes into actually running a business! Marketing, bookkeeping, taxes, contracts, staffing, and all the behind-the-scenes details were skills I had to learn over time.

Of course, there have been challenges, growing pains, and plenty of moments where I was figuring things out as I went. But every obstacle has helped shape both myself and the business into what we are today.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets Brittany Gidley Photography apart isn’t just the final images. It’s the experience.

Wether we are releasing live butterflies into the sky, meeting a unicorn, eating watermelon together, or stepping onto a holiday studio set that actually snows… I want them to look at these images and remember not just the picture, but the feeling of wonder, joy, and magic they experienced that day.

Childhood is fleeting and precious. If I can preserve not only what childhood looked like, but what it felt like, then I’ve done my job.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
People matter more than the product you’re creating.

Talent can open doors, but character is what sustains a career. Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my life have come not because I was the most talented person in the room, but because I cared deeply about the people I was serving.

I also believe it’s important to stay humble and never stop learning. Be willing to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to keep showing up, keep improving, and keep blessing others along the way.

At the end of the day, success is wonderful, but the relationships you build are what truly last. Take care of people, and you’ll never regret it.
