Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Keith.
Hi Brian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Brian Keith is a singer, songwriter, producer, and media professional with more than 30 years of experience in the music industry. Born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Brian relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 16. Within a year of arriving in the Queen City, he signed his first professional recording contract at just 17 years old, launching a career rooted in the rich musical traditions of Ohio Valley Soul and R&B.
Drawing inspiration from both Memphis soul and Cincinnati’s legendary music heritage, Brian developed a reputation as a versatile artist whose talents extend far beyond the microphone. Throughout his career, he has found equal satisfaction in writing, producing, and developing music for others, becoming a trusted creative force behind the scenes for dozens of local and nationally recognized artists. Known as a dependable studio workhorse, Brian has spent decades helping others turn their musical dreams into reality.
Among his most notable recording accomplishments is performing the memorable hook on the Southern rap classic “My Main Roni” by the MCA Records duo Field Mob, a song that helped introduce his voice to audiences across the country.
Beyond his work as a recording artist, Brian has long been committed to building connections within the music community. Recognized by many as a natural networker and mentor, he has consistently worked behind the scenes to connect artists with opportunities, resources, and industry professionals. This commitment led him to create Cin-City Music, an online networking and promotional platform that operated from 2010 to 2018. The website became a valuable hub for recording artists, promoters, producers, and music industry professionals throughout the Midwest with over 5,000 members by its end. He also worked as a co-producer and contributor on the popular Cincinnati-based TV show “New Xtreme Sounds”, which aired on the FOX19/Bounce TV network, (2012-2018). Working both behind the scenes and in front of the camera, he brought some of the biggest names in show business to the show like Boney James, Bootsy Collins, KEM, Lalah Hathaway, Eric Benet’, Kevin Hart, Michael Ealy, Joe Thomas, Jazmine Sullivan, Don Cheadle and Forrest Whitaker, just to name a few.
Three decades into his career, Brian’s passion for music remains as strong as ever. In 2025, he released the line dance anthem “Slow and Easy” and collaborated with recording artist Bo DidLee on the singles “My All” and “Can I Be.” Following the passing of his father, Brian joined forces with his brothers Bo DidLee and Cool B to record the heartfelt tribute “Walk To You (Remix),” an emotional memorial that honors family, legacy, and perseverance. The recording is currently under consideration for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 2027 Grammy Awards.
Today, Brian Keith remains deeply proud of his Cincinnati and Ohio Valley musical roots. As both an artist and advocate for the region’s creative community, he continues to carry forward the excellence, authenticity, and tradition that have defined Ohio Valley Soul and R&B for generations. With a career built on artistry, collaboration, and service to others, Brian Keith’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and an enduring love for music.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, the road has been filled with highs and lows, dealing with an ever-changing record business, the uncertainty of streaming revenue, and the challenge of finding the inspiration to keep going in this oversaturated music market. Today I lean on my love for creating great music and let everything else work itself out.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer, songwriter, producer, media professional, and community builder with more than 30 years of experience in the music industry. My work spans recording, songwriting, production, artist development, media promotion, and connecting creative people with opportunities. While I’ve enjoyed success as a recording artist, I’ve always taken just as much pride in helping other artists bring their visions to life.
I specialize in Soul, R&B, Hip Hop, and Ohio Valley music traditions, combining the musical influences of my Memphis upbringing with the rich legacy of Cincinnati and the Ohio Valley region. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with dozens of local and national artists as a vocalist, songwriter, producer, consultant, and mentor. Many people know me as someone who can bring people together, solve problems, and help move projects forward.
What I am most proud of is the impact I’ve had on other people’s careers. Long after songs are recorded and projects are completed, I value the relationships I’ve built, the artists I’ve supported, and the opportunities I’ve helped create. Success in this business isn’t just about personal accomplishments—it’s about helping others succeed as well.
What sets me apart is my commitment to community, collaboration, and longevity. Thirty years in the music business has taught me that talent alone isn’t enough. Consistency, integrity, reliability, and a willingness to help others are just as important. I’ve built a reputation as someone who works hard, keeps his word, and genuinely wants to see others win. Whether I’m recording a song, producing a project, promoting an artist, or connecting people who can help each other, my goal has always been to contribute something meaningful to the culture and to the music community that has given so much to me.
I am proud to represent the musical legacy of Cincinnati, the Ohio Valley, and Memphis, and I remain committed to carrying those traditions forward while continuing to create new opportunities for the next generation of artists.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I love classic 50s, 60s, 70s era TV shows, I watch shows like Perry Mason, Amos & Andy, Sanford and Son almost every night. I’m also a huge fan of the movie, “The WIZ” with a memorabilia collection.
