Daily Inspiration: Meet Hillary Epstein

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hillary Epstein.

Hi Hillary, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
FOR 18 YEARS…
Fleetwood Macked the Ultimate Tribute to Fleetwood Mac is a New York based Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band that tours nationally. Hailed as the most authentic Fleetwood Mac tribute band in the U.S., much of the realism comes from the bands history. 18 years ago, when tribute bands were not nearly as abundant as they are today, the band set out to provide audiences with the truest live Fleetwood Mac experience as possible. Husband and wife musical team Hillary and Michael (Stevie and Lindsey ) and friends Tracy, Jay, Phil and Andrew (Christine, John and Mick), that have made great music together in various incarnations finally all came together with their mutual love of Fleetwood Mac. But it was a journey to get there, Hillary and Mike met as a song writing team and band mates in the original indie band the basals back in the 90’s. They signed with ADA/ Warmer Brothers distributions and were getting ready to tour their current album Kingpin. The morning of September 11th 2001 they were standing in the bank waiting to deposit the check which would fund their first national tour when the world changed. Their focus immediately shifted from band to family. They had their daughter and for the next few years it was all about her. But of course, they missed playing professionally immensely and during a conversation with their friend who was starting an AC/DC tribute band and told them how much he was loving it and they should do the same. Hillary and Mike had been compared to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham throughout their original music days (as both had a life long love of their respective counterparts), and so Fleetwood Macked the Ultimate Tribute to Fleetwood Mac was born.
All the rest members of Fleetwood Macked are and have always been professional, touring Rock musicians, which also adds to the authenticity of the sound of the band. Fleetwood Macked live brings the passion, depth, heart and the musicianship Fleetwood Mac’s music requires. As a true tribute and out of love and respect, musical liberties are NOT taken. All songs are recreated just as Fleetwood Mac intended them.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets our tribute apart from many other tribute bands is how meticulously we present Fleetwood Mac’s songs. We do not do our own versions of anything and so we study every nuance of the material to recreate it to the best of our ability. Every performance is for the audience and we want to create the closest to the original experience for them. The music carries them back in time so we feel that the closer we get to the records they listened to, the more effective the performance is for them.
