Today we’d like to introduce you to Monisha Carr.
Hi Monisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my lash business during COVID while I was a stay-at-home wife/mother looking for something productive and creative to pour into. I took a lash class to build a strong foundation and make sure I was learning proper technique and safety. At first it was just family, friends and referrals, but as my work improved and my client base grew, I became more consistent and intentional. Over time, I invested in better education, products, and branding, and focused on creating a personable and comfortable experience for my clients.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like most small businesses, there were definitely challenges in the beginning. Learning proper techniques and building a consistent client base took time, even after taking a lash class. I had to practice a lot and really develop my confidence in my work.
Being a mobile lash tech also came with its own struggles traveling with supplies, setting up in different environments, and managing time between clients. There were slow seasons where bookings weren’t steady, and I had to learn patience and how to keep pushing even when things felt uncertain.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in lash extensions, lash clusters, and makeup services. Alongside my services, I also offer my own product line, which includes 100% Siberian mink strip lashes and a lash shampoo designed to help clients properly care for their lashes and maintain retention.
I’m known for creating soft, clean, and customized lash sets that enhances each client’s natural beauty while still giving them that elevated, polished look. I focus on detail, comfort, and making sure every set is tailored to the client’s eye shape and lifestyle.
What I’m most proud of is building a brand that goes beyond just services, I’ve been able to expand into products and create a full lash experience for my clients.
What sets me apart is the combination of quality work, consistency, and care for lash health, along with a luxury feel that still feels personal and approachable.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a big “risk taker,” but I do believe in taking calculated risks when I feel led and prepared.
Starting my lash business during COVID was probably my biggest leap. I was a stay-at-home wife/mother at the time, and stepping into entrepreneurship, especially in an uncertain time, wasn’t something I planned long-term. I took a lash class, invested in my tools, and began offering mobile services without really knowing how it would grow.
Another risk was choosing to invest in myself early on buying quality products, building a lash line, and putting myself out there before I felt 100% “ready.” I realized I would never grow if I stayed comfortable. Chances make champions.
