Daily Inspiration: Meet Damon Karl

Today we’d like to introduce you to Damon Karl.

Hi Damon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I became interested in music by singing in the church choir as a teenager. From there I started doing open mics an entered into a few showcases. Once I got aligned with a Grammy winning manager I started to record my music and open concerts for nationally acclaimed music acts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It is always a struggle being an independent music artist in this ever changing music industry. I have a great support team that helps me out. I hate long road trips, I prefer flying when I can.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I sing, play acoustic guitar and write songs. I am known for my vocal range. I am most proud of having met several legendary music acts like: Babyface, Patti LaBelle, Jeff Beck (R.I.P.), Karyn White, After 7, Keith Sweat and Midnight Star.
To play guitar while I sing kind of sets me apart from others in my age bracket.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Well I lost a talent contest to open up for singer Tank, but it was where my manager discovered me.
