Today we’d like to introduce you to Hayley Price.
Hi Hayley, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Getting into bridal makeup was actually a happy accident. Over the years, I’ve worn a lot of different hats – nanny, personal stylist, licensed esthetician, and more. But everything changed when someone I knew said, “Hey! You’re good at makeup. Would you be willing to do bridal makeup for a friend of mine?”
What started as a simple favor quickly turned into something so much bigger. I fell in love with not only the artistry of makeup, but the opportunity to care for people during one of the most meaningful days of their lives.
Looking back now, it all makes sense. I’ve always been creative and come from a family of artists. My medium just happens to be makeup, and my canvas is the incredible people I have the privilege of meeting along the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course, none of this came without its challenges. It’s fair to say that I wouldn’t be the person or the artist I am today without them. Every path has a learning curve, and while makeup came naturally to me, there were so many aspects of running a business that I knew absolutely nothing about.
Over the years, I’ve learned (and am still learning) through plenty of trial and error, along with the support of mentors, friends, fellow vendors, and the education I’ve invested in along the way. Each experience has helped shape not only my business, but the way I serve my clients. Looking back, every challenge taught me something valuable and helped make the journey feel a little lighter.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a professional makeup artist based in Cleveland, I specialize in bridal makeup with a focus on natural, radiant, elevated, and modern beauty. I believe beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin, which is why I’m drawn to skin-focused looks that enhance your features rather than mask them.
While weddings are the heart of my business, I offer makeup services for all of life’s occasions – whether you’re celebrating something special or simply want to feel your best, no event required.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Let’s just say I was definitely the kid crying at the dining room table trying to finish my homework. As a kid, I was theatrical and known to put on a show or two to songs from my favorite movies – Grease, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and The Wizard of Oz. I spent my childhood in tap shoes, ballet slippers, piano lessons, and theater classes.
I was always on the shy side and had a nervous demeanor, but my mom says that whenever I performed, it was like a completely different version of me would come out.
I was never the kid who knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up. Part of that was because I never really saw myself following a traditional path. What I didn’t know then was that one day I’d find a way to combine two of my greatest strengths: caring for people and creating art.
Looking back, I think my younger self would be so proud to know I found something that allows me to do both every single day.
