Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Kingsman.

Hi Jason, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been making movies since I was old enough to hold a camera. As a lifelong passionate storyteller, my dream has always been to realize my visions through the medium of filmmaking- which I finally began to do when I created Slug Films in late 2021. Over the last 5 years, the brand has grown to become something I’m truly proud of personally.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been challenging to gain an audience. I try to localize my content, meaning I incorporate ideas and themes and locations and characters from the Cincinnati, OH region. I struggled early on to find my voice creatively, but recently I’ve settled into focusing entirely on making videos that tell stories within a shared cinematic universe through the medium of LEGO stop-motion.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create animated LEGO videos. Some of them are comedic, some are more serious, and some are totally one-off while others are based on and i inspired by real-world events. I specialize in writing material that strikes the balance between humor and action, truth and exaggeration. My proudest trait is my versatility. I’ve been able to handle many kinds of projects over the years thanks to my ability to adapt. I believe what sets my animations apart from the thousands of others out there online is the unique brand of humor and overall tone that my films have.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Telling stories makes me happy. I love coming up with ways to express ideas through a story. I always start by asking- what’s the overall message of this piece? And I go from there. The satisfaction of releasing something I can be proud to add to my library of content makes me happy.
