Daily Inspiration: Meet Tyeshia Davis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyeshia Davis.

Hi Tyeshia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tyeshia Davis, and I’m the founder of Talley Sweets, a dessert brand built from passion, creativity, and perseverance. I started baking at a young age and quickly realized that creating desserts was more than just a hobby for me — it was a form of art and a way to bring people together. Over the years, I continued to develop my skills, experiment with new ideas, and turn my love for baking into something meaningful.
As a mother, student, and entrepreneur, the journey hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has pushed me to grow stronger and more determined. While earning my degree at Tri-C, I’ve continued building Talley Sweets into a brand known for creative, visually appealing, and flavorful desserts that stand out. I focus on combining innovation with quality to create experiences people remember, whether it’s through gourmet cookies, cake jars, brownies, or custom desserts.
Today, Talley Sweets represents more than desserts — it represents hard work, resilience, and the belief that you can build something beautiful from your passion. My long-term goal is to expand Talley Sweets into multiple storefront locations and eventually create a space where I can teach and inspire future bakers and entrepreneurs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many small business owners, especially in the food industry, I’ve faced challenges balancing business, school, motherhood, and personal life all at once. There were moments where I had to learn through trial and error — from managing time effectively to understanding pricing, branding, marketing, and the realities of running a business behind the scenes.
One of the biggest challenges has been building a business while wearing so many different hats. As a small business owner, you’re not just the baker — you’re also the marketer, content creator, customer service team, accountant, and planner. There have also been financial challenges and moments of self-doubt, especially while trying to grow Talley Sweets into a brand that stands out in a competitive industry.
At the same time, those struggles helped shape me into a stronger entrepreneur. They taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of continuing to learn and evolve. Every obstacle has pushed me to become more intentional about my goals and reminded me why I started Talley Sweets in the first place.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a dessert artist and the founder of Talley Sweets, a dessert brand that specializes in creative, visually appealing, and flavor-forward treats. I create a variety of desserts including gourmet cookies, brownies, cake jars, custom cakes, chocolate-covered treats, and specialty desserts inspired by nostalgic flavors and modern trends. I love taking classic desserts and elevating them into something memorable and unique.
One thing I’m especially known for is my creativity and attention to detail. I enjoy creating desserts that not only taste good but also create an experience for the customer. Whether it’s unique flavor combinations, eye-catching presentation, or themed desserts, I try to make every product feel intentional and exciting. I also focus heavily on innovation and keeping my menu fresh, which helps Talley Sweets stand out.
What I’m most proud of is being able to build and grow Talley Sweets while balancing school, motherhood, and entrepreneurship. Every order, pop-up event, and returning customer represents hard work, consistency, and passion. I’m proud that people recognize the care and creativity behind my work and continue to support the brand.
What sets me apart is the heart behind what I do. Talley Sweets is more than just desserts — it’s a reflection of my creativity, resilience, and dedication to building something meaningful. I genuinely love connecting with people through food and creating desserts that bring comfort, excitement, and joy.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that many people may not know about me is that my creativity goes far beyond baking. I’ve always loved crafting, art, design, and creating things with my hands, and a lot of that creativity influences the way I approach desserts. When I design desserts or create new menu items, I think about them almost like edible art — from the flavor combinations to the presentation and overall experience.
Another thing people may not realize is how much happens behind the scenes to keep Talley Sweets running. While people see the finished desserts, there’s also a lot of late nights, research, planning, branding, content creation, and business development involved. I’m constantly learning and pushing myself to grow, not just as a baker but as an entrepreneur.
I also think people are sometimes surprised by how ambitious my long-term vision is for Talley Sweets. My goal isn’t just to sell desserts — I want to build a lasting brand with multiple storefronts and eventually create a space where I can teach and inspire other aspiring bakers and entrepreneurs.
