Check Out Leah Curtis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Curtis.

Hi Leah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have done hair for 14 years and enjoy what I do but art is such a passion. I began praying for the Lord to direct me on how to bring these 2 things together. I thought of creating a space where artists can sell their items and host a class, while I still have space to take care of my clients. Then I hopped in a Facebook group and mentioned the idea looking for feedback, but what I received was unbelievable! I received so many responses from artists who were interested! I found a location that had been vacant for a while. Thankfully my husband is a handyman and put a ton of work into the space. Then I invited all those interested artists into the space and every single one of them joined me in bringing this vision to life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We have been so blessed. Even with my current location being bought out and now scheduled to be demolish, the Lord has blessed us with a new location that is in a strip with other businesses and visible from Mentor Ave.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Art is so impactful in many ways. The feeling you get knowing that you actually made that thing! Or when someone else wants to buy something you made! Having the ability to reuse materials for a new purpose or taking something plain and turning it into a statement. I love learning new things and I feel like everyday I get a new idea for something to create or a different craft to try.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We are so excited for this next chapter in our new location! We consider our shop a craft boutique + salon and in order to fully embrace our title, we will be adding some craft supplies to our stock, starting with a high quality fabric line and hand dyed yarns made by another creator in our area.
