Daily Inspiration: Meet Merideth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Merideth.

Hi Merideth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
While earning my degree in Marketing and Public Relations, I unexpectedly found my way into makeup artistry. I had originally interviewed for a Public Relations role at an Emmy-award winning production company, but during the interview, I was asked what I loved doing the most creatively, and my immediate answer was “makeup!” I felt so embarrassed because it had nothing to do with the role I was interviewing for, and I assumed I had completely ruined my chances.

Rather than dismissing it, the hiring manager saw something in my passion and ultimately redirected my role into on-set makeup work. That opportunity completely changed the trajectory of my career and immersed me in fast-paced editorial environments early on.

I discovered my love for makeup later than many artists do, which I think heavily shaped my perspective on beauty. I never viewed makeup as something meant to completely transform a person. Instead, I became fascinated by how subtle, thoughtful adjustments could make someone look more radiant, polished, and confident while still fully feeling like themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I faced in business was balancing the security I had working in the corporate world while slowly building my business. There were definitely seasons that required a lot of patience and persistence behind the scenes. But looking back, I think those experiences helped me build a business that feels intentional, grounded, and aligned with the type of experience I want my clients to have today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in natural wedding makeup with a focus on elevated, skin-focused beauty. Most of my clients are women who want to look like the most flawless version of themselves on their wedding day, rather than a major makeup transformation. A large part of my work is creating makeup that feels timeless, refined, and comfortable to wear both in person and on camera.

Beyond the artistry itself, I’m known for creating a calming and reassuring experience for my clients. Many clients come to me feeling extremely hesitant about professional makeup because they’re afraid of looking overdone or unrecognizable. Helping them feel at ease and genuinely confident in their own skin has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work.

I think what sets me apart is the combination of my editorial background and my personalized approach to beauty. Working in fast-paced production environments taught me the technical side of makeup artistry very early on, while weddings taught me the emotional side of the experience and reading the room in every situation. It taught me that luxury beauty isn’t just about how the makeup looks, but also how someone feels while sitting in your chair.

What I’m most proud of is building a business rooted in trust. So much of my work comes from referrals and past clients, which means the world because it tells me people felt genuinely cared for throughout the experience.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would say the most important quality in my success has been discernment. My work has always been rooted in a very less-is-more approach to beauty, where the goal is always to enhance rather than transform.

Over the last 12 years working in the industry, I’ve learned that my role goes far beyond makeup. On a wedding morning, being a grounding presence for my clients is just as, if not more, important as the look I’m creating. I think the combination of technical experience and emotional awareness is what has allowed me to create an experience that feels both professional and deeply personal.
